Streaming Video straight from PC

8 replies · 2,178 views · Started 21 June 2003

Hi Does anyone know of an application/method that would allow me to stream video onto my 7650 (don't worry about framerate) via BLUETOOTH directly from a connected PC. - i.e. no internet involvement at all.

(obviously the video file would have had to be prepared beforehand - suitable size, number of colours etc etc)

Thanks for the thoughts

BB

Try a search for this app...

REMOTE S60 ...

Thats all that you need and much more ...

a damn killing app to me 😃

OH! Sorry...

i mean.. you can stream everything you see on the 7650
to the PC, ... so if you turn it on the camera on the 7650
you can see that live video on the pc with Remote S60

But of course you can send streming video from the PC to 76500

Sorry Aefox, did you mean "can't send ......" in your last sentence?

I had a look at the site and the programme looks interesting, many thanks for the info. Sadly I think the connection is the wrong way for my requirements.

But if Remote s60 is possible, surely it can't be impossible to reverse the equation and control a PC via Bluetooth from the 7650.

I apologise for my own inability and I say "surely" above from the position of a computer user whose last foray into coding was basic machine code on the BBC micro ! (Model B of course!)

(What do you mean you've never heard of such a machine - you youngsters!)

Thanks for taking the time.

BB

Wow that is ancient! I was barely a baby when the BBC micro had its prime time! 😃

There were ideas floating in the forum about seting up a web/video server on you home PC that can be accessed without using an internet connection, when the Phone and PC are connected with BT.
I haven't tried this although it does not sound impossible.

OK OK no need to rub it in about my age.... I'm sure I was trying to work out how to keep a wobbly RAM pack fixed on the back of my ZX81 while most of you lot were being conceived!

Thanks for the pointer ghostdog but I can find the actual thread... if you get a chance can you give me a good search term to point me in the direction. No rush though as I'm off to dust down the rubber keys on my old Speccy and have a quick ten minutes of Horace goes Skiing... now that was gameplay!

Cheers again BB

Sorry of course that should have read "can't find the actual thread"

Obviously my age and too much time spent with spectrum rubber. (PRINT COLOUR POKE LET DIM BORDER ) keyboards !

Well, the thread is very old,if i find it i'll let you know.I really think that you don't need the thread, there are no tech descriptions on how you can stream video to your phone while its Bluetooth connected to your PC.Only the basic idea was discussed, why it might or might not work.

If the phone can see your computer's IP(I guess that you can try IpView - (A freeware program that has a ping feature and a lot more)to ping the standard Ip adresses)the only problem would be seting up the streaming web/video server.I'll try this myself and i'l let you know if i have any results.
