Parrot Driveblue: voicedialing with P800?

Hi all,

In order to cover one of my hands free options I purchased today the Parrot Driveblue bluetooth handsfree product. First time I plugged the unit in the car it asked to pair the device, so I did so by going into the Connections menu of the P800, searching for devices, used the 1234 code and the devices bonded successfully. I was then able to press and hold the green (call) button on the Driveblue unit and use voice commands to call numbers that had a voicetag associated - audio came out properly from the device.

The problem: voicedialing only worked once!!! Now whenever I press and hold the call button it gives me a short beep but no voice dialing (the normal beep) seems to work. If I make a call from the phone the audio still comes through Driveblue. I have resetted Driveblue and removed and re-paired the unit from the P800 but I still can't voicedial, any ideas?

Oh yeah, I'm still running the original firmware of my P800 (although I will try and find an SE Service Center here in Madrid to update it next week):
Phone: R1D
BT: R2C
Org: R1F01
CDA: nothing (I don't know why this is, happened after my last major reset!)

Driveblue software: 3.01
By the way, documentation and support is quite a joke for this product - good thing it is pretty darned easy to use, but still, the advertised "software downloadable updates" is non-existant and the only user manual is a Windows helpfile you need to manually find from the Parrot website to download!! :-?

Cheers,

Lonnie

Can you check if all your voice dial records are still there on your phone? eg: Go to the name of ther person and check if the voice dial you recorded is still there.

Hi Muzikfreakah - yes I've checked and they are still there. Funny thing today I jumped in the car, plugged the device in and this time it DID give me the voicedialling beep (after the short beep) and it worked fine. The only problem is that the other side almost always complains of the bad voice quality and often cannot hear me properly. In the end I have to tell them I will call back (although it's hit and miss that they understand what I am saying!!) and disconnect the Driveblue product. It appears the system cuts out a lot as if talking on a walkie talkie (like half duplex)

Real shame, good concept but unless they can update the firmware so that the DSP based echo-cancellation is not so "aggressive", I will have to return this product. 😞

You have probably recorded all your voice commands directly with your phone(while holding it close to your mouth). In order for the headset to make a perfect match for voicedailing, you need to re-enter the voice commands while using the bluetooth headset.

So, record one voicenote through the headset to check if this is your problem here.

I hope this fixed things for you.

Hi guys, thanks for trying to help. Actually I've tried recording the names via the device and it doesn't pipe the audio or mic through it. All the same, I have now discovered that other Driveblue users are having the exact same problems I am - in the end the voice quality/reception is awful and it appears that Parrot support is basically non-existant. If I do not get a response within 2 days I am returning this product.

When will companies understand that even a good product requires a company to support it completely and not leave it's users high and dry?? :-? As you can imagine, my recommendation to all right now would be NOT TO BUY this product...

Totally agree on the sound quality problem, I get the same problem with the added one that I was not able to voice dial with my SE P800.

The caller on the other side can usually just hear me from very far and with a lot of background noise.

I did call a sales manager in France from the Driveblue. He says at the beginning that he could hear me very well. Only not loud enough, so he suggested to go to my shop and see if there was a possibility to have the volume increased (funny that the Parrot guy did raise the question, no ?). After a while as he couldn't really understand me (I'm french speaking, so that cannot be the problem, he says the network was bad 😉. The reception was at the maximum level.

When I did asked if a software was planned on the P800 so that you can have additional functionalities (recording the voices tags in the parrot, synchronisation, ...), the response was that nothing was foreseen as the Driveblue works with the P800.

So, for me, this solution is totally unusable and I have few hopes to get it better.

I was planning to install the CK3000 for my P800 and I think the sound quality is much better but the software being the same, it is probably not a solution for my SE P800 Car Kit.

Hi BelgiumGuy - I think I'm going to go for the SonyEricsson in car kit (HBH-30) - at the CarPhoneWarehouse here in Madrid I can get it 159 installed (I've also seen the kit only at 139), but I also want to add the holder and perhaps the "Advanced Music Mute". I'm tired of not having a proper in car system, especially when the law here doesn't allow one to drive and talk at the same time without a full incar kit (doesn't stop people from doing it though!!).
