The Handydates problem...

Has anybody heard from Epocware on a fix for the Handydates vanishing entries problem (you konw - the one where the entries vanish when you sync)?

:agrue:

Me again, I fixed that one a couple of weeks ago mate. Put the birthday details into the birthday field in your 'Contacts' in MS Outlook and sync with your P800. Then use the import from contacts menu in Handy Dates to fill in the birthday entries and sync again. You should then find that the Handy Date entries will stay in place, the only downside is you will now have two entries for every birthday entered in your Calendar. BTW don't try and edit the calendar entries in MS Outlook that have been inserted by Handy Dates, if you do the next time you sync they'll all disappear again.

Cheers, see you Saturday?

Mo.

How can you tell if the entry was made by handy dates? My problem is the repeating entries! I get around 10 of them sometimes!!

Mmm.... i dont sync my contacts with outlook!

Wonder maybe in future version they could also have a option to export the dates into the contacts.

😃

Just received this from Epocware techies:

Hello,

Sorry for the problem. We know about it and will publish the new fixed version in a few days. We'll email it to you.

When I hear anything I'll let you all know.

Cheers and God bless, The_Hog_Rider...

Haven't heard anything yet from Epocware. I've been away for a couple of weeks and have just sent a reminder to Epocware.

It's pretty bad that they sell a piece of software that obviously hasn't been tested (after all this fundamentally doesn't work!) but to make matters worse a couple of months after they have sold the software we still haven't had any sign of a fix or any explanation as to why we were sold unusable software - a great pity because Handyday is excellent.

Maybe they haven't sold many copies so don't really care about those of us who have bought it.

I'll keep you informed.

Cheers and God bless, The_Hog_Rider...

Almost a month on and still no solution for the HandyDates problem.

Still no reply to my "reminder" email to Epocware.

Have they sold small enough numbers of this inoperable software not to care?

Or, do they just not care at all?

Enquiring minds need to know

Cheers and God bless, The_Hog_Rider...

I've just sent this to Epocware, I'll keep you informed (send emails yourself to [email protected])

Dear Sir or Madam,

I received the email below almost a month ago and despite me sending reminders I have heard nothing further.

Surely someone can take couple of minutes to update me and the others who have been sold software that fails to carry out the single, basic, function that it was sold to perform.

We have been waiting patiently without any feed back from Epocware but the lack of any information generates a feeling that Epocware don't care!

Let us know what is happening, even if it's just to say that you can't fix it and will be offering a refund.

Thanking you in advance for your time and prompt attention.

Yours faithfully,

I also bought Handy Day and have multiple problems as well.

After several emails to Epocware, I received the following email from them today with a link to a new beta version. This "new" version doesn't work for me... I am probably missing about half of my birthdays...

Hello,

We are really sorry about this problem with the current version of
Handy Dates for SE P800. Unfortunately, the problem caused by the bug in
the phone firmware. Anyway, we are working hard on the workaround and
hoping to release it soon.

There is a pre-release version available already. You can get it at:

[Edited by Raven] - Since you received this beta by e-mail, it is probably not meant for public release just yet, that's why I removed your link.

I got the same email from Epocware today (at least we now know that there is someone there!)

I haven't tried the beta update yet.

I wonder what the firmware "bug" is? as we are probably running different versions of the firmware I wonder why the "bug" is present in all versions?

Cheers and God bless, The_Hog_Rider...

After deleting all my birthdays in Handy Dates, uninstalling Handy Dates, synchronizing my P800 with Outlook, reinstalling the pre-release Handy Dates and import the birthdays from the Handy Dates function "Import Contacts", everything seems to be fine as I have all my birthdays in my P800 and none of them missing or being doubled in Outllook.

I had to go through this procedure to get it to work.

I've just tried the beta v2 of HandyDates and it appears to work OK (email [email protected] for the beta version)

It imports Outlook birthdays fine and is happy with manually added events; however it doesn't appear to be able to import anniveraries or "export" b'days or anniversaries to Outlook - I'll email Epocware for more info.

Cheers and God bless, Mark...
