i too have no bluetooth or ir connections on pc what would be better to use as when i get the phone how will i be able to install all the programs out now and is it easy to do im bit thick u know and what do i do as im not up on all this gadget stuff

Bluetooth is somewhat faster and a LOT easier to use, because you don't need a visual contact. With Bluetooth you can have the phone for example in your pocket as long as it's in the ~10 meters maximum range.

Then again with infrared (IR) connections, you need to have visual contact between the phone and the PC.

Because you don't have IR or Bluetooth built-in in your PC, you need an adapter. Unfortunately Bluetooth adapters are more expensive than IR adapters. There are adapters that can with be used via USB interface and PCMCIA slots. USB adapters are cheaper.

Here in Finland cheap IR adapters (using USB) seem to cost about 40 euros or more and cheap BT adapters (using USB too) 100 euros or more. I think these prices may vary a lot in different countries so you should ask your local retailers for prices.

I'd say that go for Bluetooth, if you can afford it. But if you can't, IR will do the trick too.

thanks tero you are the only person that can even be bothered to answer my questions why bother having a forum other wise
THANKS AGAIN

One reason for a forum is for people with disparate skills to get together and share knowledge. bluetooth is still in its infnacy, and the 7650 is in extremely short supply, so the chances are that ebo is the only person with the knowledge at the moment.

I prefer it when you only get an answer from people who truly know, rather than a question, 15 people saying me too, I want to know as well and then the one user with the answer posting.

I guess it's a matter of taste. On topics where there are a lot of people with experience, replies are usually a bit more forthcoming. unfortunatly cutting edge questions about bleeding edge technology won't always have moe than one or two Djinns to answer mere mortals. It goes with the territory!

If you didn't have a forum you couldn't ask your question... This is a new area and people are only going to be able to answer your question if they have a 7650 (not many around yet), use bluetooth (not that common), read this forum (not that common either) and can be bothered to reply.

I generally will answer unanswered questions after a few days (or ones that haven't been asked), but in this case I didn't know the answer either.

Anyway I'm glad you got your answer in the end 😉

I haven't got a 7650, but I read a review over at infosync.

If you get to the page talking about bluetooth pc connectivity (pages 5 onwards), it talks about what is involved. Bluetooth (on 7650) looks a little awkward to use with the PC. Perhaps there wasn't enough time for a more detailed look at this particular area to see if some settings could be changed to make it easier/quicker.

There you are, 2 useful (hopefully) comments.

i was not being awkward or anything i think this is a good site i just wanted my question answered as my phone is arriving on friday and i wanted to order my usb bluetooth adapter so everything was ready
sorry if people got a bit annoyed ..but alls well as i got my answers 😉

In that case, a little more advise. Make sure you get a bluetooth adaptor known to work with the 7650. Apparently some don't.
