High Speed Phone Numbers with '*' are not accepted

Hallo from Switzerland,

We really like the Nokia 9210 and some of us have had pretty well every model since they started making them.

We have about 10 9210i's that use at work. I try to set them up along with another person. We can access a high speed connection here and we have use a phone number like,

*25*0840884111

Some of the phones (v 5.33) accept using the * in the number phone (enter connection details menu) while others (version 6.0 software) allow you enter the number and * but then when your 'Done', it drops out the * and leaves spaces. Therefore, the number number does not work.

Any ideas about what can done?

We have tried typing the phone number in Word Processor and then copying it in, but this does work.

Best Regards, JoeSki

I never heard of * numbers ...
Is that the number you would press when you try to reach the number on a regular phone (I know it's for data but you should be able to reach it with a normal phone)?

Hallo,

Here is more information.

This phone or dial in number is a SwissCom number, which allows one access to the high speed line.

*25* is prefixed we us before we dial into our Internet Service Provider.

Here is the settings pdf page on the SwissCom web site.

http://www.swisscom-mobile.ch/Objekte/vipsystemeuploadHSCSD_config_nokia_9210-en.pdf

We also use a normal line, +41 1 451 0633 when we are dialing from outside of the country. Now, with the new phones models we have use this number in the country and out of the country.

We have set up two dial numbers, one is SwissCom High Speed and the other is a normal line.

We can set it up lastest year phones, with V5.33(2) software but the new phones, V 6.00, it does work.

We thought it might be a keyborad setting of something, but we have not explored anything in that area yet.

When we mean the "*", we, on the 9210i we used the Shift, then number 7 key. On many keyboards the * key is in different places.

We have been to the Nokia Site, but there is nowhere we find to sent a message to ask if this can be solved.

We may also go SwissCom, to see if they can help.

well it could just be a software limitation.
That's why the new firmware phones can handle it and the others can't.
