Displaying Chinese Text in 9210i

Hi All,

Anyone has a proven method of installing support files into English version of 9210i in order to view Chinese text, like in Messages?

Have been seraching the net for tips & tricks to no avail. Have tried several methods suggested but didn't work at all.

Thanks in advance.

Yup the PSILog site has been displaying the "Crystal Chinese" product for more than 1 year already... but still not available.

Copied from PSILog:
Want to try Chinese on EPOC?
You can try free 14 days trial version of the package.
Chinese on EPOC - will be available within 1-2 weeks

Want to buy Chinese on EPOC?
You can buy the program using a credit card via our on-line shop.
Chinese on EPOC - will be available within 1-2 weeks

I sent emails to them asking when are they releasing the Crystal Chinese, either in Demo or for purchase... (yes, i am so desperate to have it that I will pay for it) but i get no reply at all. (P.S: Shame on PSIloc)

In another site, I follow instructions to install unicode support and some chinese fonts, but didn't work as documented or may be I am not technical enough to understand.

STATUS Today: Still No Chinese support on my English 9210i.

Any offer of tips will be greatly appreciated!

For wat ever purpose u nid it for, im sure it wil be a living hell for u to try to make it work. Jst imagine the mcomplexity of the program to be able to both display & support input of Chinese Characters! I shud know im part Chinese & the no of characters compared to the ennglish alphabet is no joke! the encoding it self is a burden! Jst rem how it was evn til now the glitches in running Chinese support programs in eng based OS on computers today. 😉

Well, jst a thought! 😉

I agree...It will be a big thing to deal with for the device.

try search the file name LINDA.gdr inside ROM system file name FONT.
Copy LINDA.GDR and paste it on driver c under Font directory....(u must delete that 2 files inside font directory b4 u paste)

please find the C:/system/fonts, delete all the files in this directory. and try to find the linda.gdr file and copy this file to C:/system/fonts, restart the PDA and you can read Chinese message now. If you have problem, please let me know.

Hi wjlights,

I tried your suggestion but it still does NOT work:

Side effects of doing this:
a) all characters becomes extra large and some even overlaps each other with icons side by side.
b) notice the system becomes incredibly slow with linda.gdr loaded.
c) memory is also very low after reboot, abt 2.2MB compared with 3.3MB previously.

But the main problem still, I cannot read Chinese sms. Any other suggestions?

u must delete those 2 files that already inside the fonts directory before u copy the linda.gdr into that directiry.

Dear png,

I tried your suggestion, still not working.

My unit is 9210i, not 9210c.... r u sure this will work? BTW, where can I get a copy of the linda.gdr. Are you able to post it in this forum?

Thanks!

tough luck pal! 😞
im sure u can find a way to sort things out! 😃

BTW i do admire the fresh and strong spirits of the newbies!

😉 never failed to make me laugh!😉
