SE P800 to replace HP565 & 7650

I have a HP565 and a Orange 7650 that I use together (As well as I can
because the 7650 can't sync from my HP and I don't have IR or Bluetooth on
my main machine) and I was thinking about getting an P800 and giving my
HP565 & 7650 to my girlfriend to use at uni. I have a few questions about
the P800...

1. I only really use the HP565 for e-mail, calendar, contacts , notes a
little Internet (Also avantgo) Will the P800 be able to replace my HP565
and 7650 as an all in one unit.

2. I have read lots about the P800 and what's in the box; what do you get
in the box from orange ?

3. Can I still use Outlook 2002 to do a full sync of e-mail folders,
calendar and contacts with a number of different phone numbers to one
person?

3. Does outlook 2003 work with the Sony software yet ? (I beta test for MS
and I am currently use outlook 2003 with activesync 3.7 for my PocketPC)

4. It is any good ? I.E. General obervations of the phone; good or bad.
Is there a better phone out there ? Should I get the SVP or even wait for
the SVP E100 ?

5. Where is the cheapest I can get one on the 200 min (30) call plan. I
have seen it for 176.99 @ http://www.cyren-communications.co.uk/ are then
any good ? Is there better ?

Thanks for any advice you can give me on this.

1. yes
2. handset, battery, 16mb msd and adapter, syncstation, charger, flip, 4 stylus, hadphones, protective cover, maual, 2 cds - 1 pc suite (outdated- update on sonyericsson.com), 2 Multimedia games etc.

3. you can onbly sync one folder per item, so you can only sync your inbox or one folder, not multiple folders. Calender will sync, but P800 has limited categories for events. Contacts will sync, again only one folder, and it won't sync categories. Multiple numbers for one contact will sync fine.

4. Not officially supported, and may be restricted in the PC Suite software (as in it will check version before even trying), but should be possible as long as MS havn't changed their PST file format significantly. You can only try. Undoubtably will be supported when on full release.

5. quite simple, SPV is rubbish full stop (i can expand if needed), dont even bother. SPV E100 is EXACTLY the same with a different cover. P800 is excellent in my opinion, though I would suggest a trial first. Orange will do a 14 return if you dont port a number.

6. You can get it free if you get a hign tariff and then move it down aftetr three months. You should work out the difference you will pay for the three months at high tariff. i.e. 70 pound tariff for three months, then down to 30 means you effectively paid 120 compared to 180 for a 30 tariff.

I have the SPV and the P800 and have also owned the HP545 and a number of Ipaqs and the Nokia communicator.

It depends on what your looking for but I think the P800 is the better phone right now. The PDA functions are better, the screen is larger, the handwriting recognition makes email and text messaging much easier, the camera is built in and the phone is equipped with bluetooth. The only downsides for me is that the P800 is a little chunkier than the SPV and uses MS duo memory sticks which can be harder to find than the SPVs SD memory cards.

The P800 does sync with outlook - not sure about folders though, I have not needed that function. When I purchased the P800 I use to carry it with my ipaq - after about two weeks I found I was not using my ipaq at all so now i just carry the P800. I could not do this with the SPV.

The internal internet browser is good on the P800 but you can also download the Opera browser for free which is even better. Opera actually reformats the web pages to fit on the screen (not like pocket ie's fit to screen function - it is much better than that).

Not sure what you get from Orange as I purchased mine direct from SE.

Hope this helps
