Ring Tones ?

I tried copying some standard MIDI and WAV files (renamed extension to RNG) to the 3650 and using these as ring tones. In the Profile editor, it allows me to select these files and actually plays them but, if the phone rings with one of my custom files selected, it just plays the default "Nokia Tune" as the ring tone. Is there some special attribute that must be set for a file to be recognized as a ring tone? Does anyone know of a way to surmount this problem?

ensure that you have copied MIDs in main memory(NOT MMC),BUT WAVS must ring also if you uploaded them to MMC,ALSO try to turn on VIBRATE alarm.

Tried both suggestions but no go. Can hear them fine when selecting them in Profile, but when the phone rings it continues to play the standard Nokia Tune. Perhaps there is a file size limit for for a ring tone? I tried one file that was only 7 Kb and even that small file doesn't work. ???

Have you selected the right profile. You may be editing one that you haven't activated.

i.e. if you personalise General, go back to profiles and Activate!

Yes..I just modified the ring tone for the Normal profile that is already active. It is really bizarre...can't figure out why they play when I select them, but then the ring when a call comes in is just the Nokia tune?

why did you rename the files? don't change their extension. .rng are simple tones... like the ones you hear in "regular" phones... just send the mids and the wav to the phone, and select "save" in the recorder. they should be automatically put in the right folder, (mmc or phone), depending on what memory is in use, for the audio recorder. you should be able to use them normally in any profile...

I changed the extension on the WAV files only to RNG in one of my futile attempts to get it to work. One thing interesting is perhaps it is the way I installed the files. I used PC Suite to copy the files directly to the Nokia/Sounds/Digital/ folder where the other ringtones are located as I figured this is where it looks for ringtones. I never saved them into recorder like you mention, though I am not sure this is the problem since I can see and hear all of them if I select them as a ringtone in a profile. Its just when the phone really rings, if I have any of these MID or WAV files selected as my ring tone, I get the default Nokia Tune ring instead.

For Midis you could also try the folder system/sounds/digital (My midis are stored here by the Phone)

I am still curious if there is a file size limit for a ring tone? I can't find any info on this and maybe that is the problem?

As far as i'm aware there's no upper limit on ringtone file sizes for the 3650. i'm currently using a 20 second wav. file which works no problems. When i first got my phone i had a brief problem where i set a midi file as my ringtone but it used the t-mobile ringtone as a default - one full reboot later (battery/sim card out) and it's never happened since 😃
