Man am I annoyed...
Took my P800 in to them yesterday for firmware upgrade, told it would take 24 hours (which I know it doesn't but I can do without it for a night).
Went back in today to collect it... First of all they had lost it, took them fifteen - twenty minutes with three guys searching.
Then when they finally found it I was told "it can't be done here it must be sent to Sony Ericsson"... I was shocked... When I asked why they said "because we can't do it here" (which I knew to be a lie because I know others who have had their P800's upgraded there). I wasn't satisfied and asked again, I got the same answer.
Ok, so I asked how long it would take, I was told TWO WEEKS... I said I couldn't be without it for that long* and would like it back.
The guy handed the phone back to me and I was just about to leave when I read a comment on the bottom of the job sheet behind his desk "crashed during flashing, phone dead". At this point I try to power it on and yes it's dead, I then ask the guy if he was going to let me leave with a dead phone (which was working when I dropped it off yesterday). He told me "yes", when I asked him why he said "because of your attitude"... I'll be totally honest with you here, up until that point I had been very cool about the whole situation, I had said nothing inflamatory nor had I complained or moaned, I had stood waiting patiently while they hunted for my 'lost phone' which was now a '2 week repair' and in fact a 'dead phone'.
* Would have taken it somewhere else for the firmware upgrade had not not now been dead.
My advice, Get your P800 upgraded / repaired somewhere else... I can totally understand flash upgrades going bad but being lied to and (almost) allowed to leave the store without being told that the phone in my hand was in fact DEAD is incredible.
I've written a letter of complaint to CW... I may well CC it to Sony Ericsson.
