I just compared my 7650 to my friend's. Mine was bought in October last year, while he bought his a few weeks ago. What we both noticed was that my display was bright white, while his was bluish and slightly darker. We both agreed that mine looks better.
Now I've been wondering wherether anybody else noticed that difference, and whether it has something to do with one of the changes in last firmware versions, i.e. support for different display types. Would the newer 7650 use a different display module?
Probably the contrast needs playing with.
On the 3650 they changed the default contrast values between firmwares for some reason so could be the same with 7650 too.
Just go into the settings and change the contrast setting and you should be able to get them looking the same.
😊
Hmm... You could be right. Next time I see him I'll check his contrast setting and report here the outcome of the examination.
cheers!
I've seen lots of 7650 phones, many different FW versions and I've noticed nothing at all.
yes that's true it's not a matter of the F/W or contrast setting but a matter of the screen H/W colour stuff and you can't do anything bout it
i have two 7650 one is bright white one is kind of yellowish
and until now i think i have compared about 20 7650s and i found that there are kind of 3 types of screen colour
1. brigth white
2. a bit yellowish
3. yellowish colour
but in the end if u took photos from these three 7650s and transfered the image to the pc there are no difference for the colour so the problem lay on the screen of each device
I think willbrady's right - check out the contrast settings
Paul
This might be the case with the 3650(the contrast thing) i don't know, but i don't think it is with the 7650.I know what n1ghtFLY is talking about,i've seen it and i think it is because of different locations of production.Device that are made in finland usually are better quality devices then the made by nokia ones.
Nightfly is correct. I've had to change atleast three 7650's (under warranty ... and for various reasons) and have had compared the displays and there certainly is a difference. Like Nightfly described...white, yellowish.
Its a hardware issue ( could be different batches of Displays )
Changing Contrast is not going to help much.
Regards
PS:...this was discussed quite sometime back
GhostDog, are you saing that not all 7650's were made in Finland? What are other possible production locations?
Yes they are not.Well,i don't know, but made by Nokia 7650's are not made in Finland.Probably countries where the work force is cheaper.
I've checked mine and my mother's and all them have been made in Finland.
Well, mine too is made in finland but i've seen many devices that were made by Nokia.Usually,i avoid buying made by Nokia devices.
My original screen was really yellow on the 7650. Now the NSC replaced the casing and screen (it was badly scratched) it is bright white.
The contrast settings were unaltered.
Atleast one other Nokia Manufacturing base is China. This one takes care of the Asia Pacific region.
my friends was yellow, the nscc said they cant change it cos' they havent got screens in yet.

Thanks. I run it as my screensaver too. 😉
In a larger resolution though...
Sorry. Forgot to login.
MIne is bright white too compared to my frens' 7650.... theirs' appear a little yellow. They thought its the screen plastic protector sticker though...
how to define whether is bright white or yellowish??? only 2 of my friends using 7650 only, and i seldom see them also...
well
if u buy the nokia product from
Australia it is supposed to be Made In China
Asia it is made by Nokia
Yeah, i agree that made in Finland Quality far best but in reality there are still problems exist
but for sure FInland is far good cos 9210(i) all is made in Finland the staff told me that other factories can't do it 😮 😃 😮

True. You'd need some point of reference. Because who's to say that phone #1 has a yellowish tint, and it's not that phone #2 has a bluish one. I suppose a lot depends on the lighting and other environment.
I have compared my 7650 to my friends (my friend bought his some weeks after I did, mine is made in finland and i think my friends phone is made there too). Anyway his display are more white than my, i think its the background light that make the difference...
