unusual problem with pc suite

35 replies · 8,708 views · Started 07 July 2003

The last time I used PC suite, my laptop entered in hibernation mode automatically, since the battery died. the phone was connected to the laptop through the serial port. Unfortunately since then I haven't been able to use it. Even though mRouter works fine, (the cell phone and the laptop are connected through the serial port), pc suite says the phone isn't connected. 😞 😞 😞 I can't even connect through infrared!!!!.

I've reinstalled pc suite and the BT software, but I can't make it go back to normal... I've even looked around the registry to find some key that might be messing around with the software, but no dice... I've had just about every existing problem with the bluetooth software but always managed to sort it out.... now I've tried everything and my last hope is the forum...

Since I'm still able to connect to my PC, this tells me that the problem isn't the phone. And since I can't connect using the infrareds as well, it tells me that it isn't a bluetooth problem.... But I've reinstalled everything... I don't know what that tells me =(((((((((((((

I suspect noone else has had this problem before, so I doubt I'll even get an answer, (maybe I'll get answer, but I doubt I'll get a solution...)

thanks in advance for any help.

TRY to:1)explore Mrouter, ensure that you have selected yours prefered connection(connection, which you are really using);2)reinstall PC suite,.

Hey dude, I also encountered the same problem. Did you already found a fix for it?

Hello once again!

Previously I tried to reconnect my cousin's 7650 onto my Nokia 3650 PC Suite and it was detected but you can only import settings from other models.

Since then, whenever I use the PC Suite, it will no longer recognize my phone which I named Jayvee's N3650. I also have Nokia 3650 and Xav's7650.

I was able to delete "Jayvee's N3650" and "Xav's 7650" but not the Nokia 3650 which says that it is currently being used.

I think I went to SETTINGS or something and clicked on PHONE SETTINGS or something.

I will further check on this one and re-post.

just found the time to do what I thought of doing some time ago... I deleted every record in the registry involving my phone's imei.... unfortunately, it didn't work... I can't understand... I uninstall everything, but I can never have a "fresh" install... pc suite will always "know" my 3650 was previously connected to the computer... this sucks...

Why do you have to use pcsuite anyway? The only thing that it can do that normal way can't is to back up your phones memory. For sending files and pictures and the like all you have to click on send files to a nearby computer sign on the desktop or the infrared signal at the bottom on the takbar. If your infrared connects fine than this should be no problem. I have never ever used pcsuite. I'm connected via the serial port as well.

Is there any way of sending files directly to the memory card instead of the inbox without using pcsuite? I can't get pcsuite to detect my phone at all...

PC Suite also helps keeping your contacts/calendar in sync with your desktop contact/calendar application (assuming it is one that PC Suite supports, such as Outlook and whatnot).

Yeah, get a card reader, they are not too expensive

no, that's not the only thing... I use pc suite to convert and send video and audio files directly to the mmc card, I send the java files directly to the installation directory, I synch my 3650 with outlook, I backup my contacts, I install software without needing to mess around with the phone, (just double clicking on the installation file) and I send my files (whichever type of files they are), to the exact folder I want them into. the only other way to do the last thing I mentioned is to search for the file in the mail directory and cut/paste it in the destination directory uing some file explorer...

I enjoy working with pc suite... too bad I can only continue to do that on my pc, and not on my laptop.

that's exactly what happens to me...

hmm. sounds almost similar to my problem.

If my phone is connected to the pc using mrouter, pc suite won't even open up???

If disabling the connection, I can open it and then connect the phone again, but even then I cannot get in contact with my phone using pc suite. Arghh.. Maybe a microsucks patch (auto update) that has spoiled it? Not that I know it to be a fact. just me guessing :-?

This guy is also one of the happy fellas, if someone figures out, wtf is going on..

ok, we now know we've got a bunch of similar problems.... when will someone come by with some solutions?! :-? :-? :-?

Hey dude, I am already downloading the updated PC Suite at 90%. I will let you know what is the outcome of my testing.

Hope this updated 'ware works. I am dying to use PC Suite again. Have the mRouter though

I also just updated pc-suite.

Removed the old version. reboot twice.

Installed the new version. Reboot twice /sigh

and I got access to my phone using pc-suite again.

Didi you try and remove before updating Tatuagem ?

just found the time to do what I thought of doing some time ago... I deleted every record in the registry involving my phone's imei...

dont know if this is any help but on the nokia site they offer a registry cleaner before you install the latest 7650 pc suite maybe its worth a try but i dont know if it will work as i havnt tried it

http://www.nokia.com/cda1/0,1080,2015,00.html

hmmm. I doubt it will work with the 3650 though or they would have a similar download link in the 3650 downloads page
have you guys got firewall put up? if u have pc suite won't connect....try disable firewall 1st.
Nope.. My Zonealarm asks me if I want to grant Pc Suite access, which I off course give it permission to 😉

May be other firewall programs block instead of asking :-?

If so. I would change the firewall instead of changing the phone 😃

win reinstalled, problem solved.

It would be cool to find out what registry entries the 7650 registry cleaner cleans, exactly... =\

I apologize guys but removing the entire PC Suite and re-installing did not help. Also using any registry cleaner did not help also.

What can I do so that mRouter will be able to detect my phone? sigh...

Re-installing the entire Windows is an option but are there other ways?

hi
I have a belkin usb blue tooth adapter and had problems connecting with PC Suite on xp pro system. (it worked intermittently for a few days and never again). I got it working like a charm after downloading newer PC Suite. BUT, that didn't help on the Win 98 laptop. I surfed belkin for support, and lo and behold, they had specific directions for getting the adapter to work with PC Suite. Although you most likely have another adapter, you might want to check it out, perhaps the theory works the same. Never, could i have figured that one out on my own.

Good luck!!
