I'm not sure if anyone reviewed this problem before. Anyways, I'm using the bluetooth device from my laptop on my desktop but somehow 1. The computer could not detect the services so I can not connect to the phone, yes, I've paired it and all. 2. The phone somehow cannot detect the computer, searching and came up nill even though the computer can connect to the phone.
Okay, I'm confused, any one else having similar problems or any solutions?
Okay, perhaps I know what went wrong, the configurations for the bluetooth device kept reseting itself, everything went blank, the name etc. What can I do now?
😮
What OS are you using?
It sounds to me like a reinstallation of the bluetooth software will be next!
I've given up on bluetooth, my Belkin bluetooth dongle went back in the box and stowed away. I just wasn't happy with the trouble I had to go through, just to get it to work. The signal strengh was horrible - and I was basically holding my phone next to the stupid dongle! They need to make it easier to use, maybe then it will become more popular.
Back to the slow USB serial cable again....
get a mac 😊 trouble-free bluetooth
I'm using XP Home, it works fine on my laptop which is running on XP Pro, I've done reinstalling and so forth, so is there anything else I can do? Besides, formating my computer and pray. 😃
Hi Accela,
Are you using the latest version of WIDCOMM which is vers1.3.2.7 ?
If you haven't upgraded yet, why not have it a try, the v1.3.2.7 seems to be a lot easier and more stable than the previous one I had which was v1.2.2.18.
BTW, I'm using an OEM bluetooth USB, and so far I'm quite satisfied.
I'm not sure, as I am not at home right now.. :-? I just installed straight from the CD, perhaps, thats why. But just one question, the software used does not matter to which device right?

It shoudn't matter I suppose, but from experience, you should have you're original CD at hand, coz' after installing the latest widcomm software... when you plug in your usb-BT, somehow, the system tries to re-install it, and if you don't have the proper drivers, the BT's installation gets screwed. Anyways, if it does gets screwed-up, you just have to go to the control panel-> hardware devices, then try to upgrade the driver of the USB device, then point it to your CD where the file BTWUSB.INF should be found. If it's not there, try opening those zipped files in your CD.
Yup, mine is an even older version but same base.. But where to download? :-?

What is your BT's brand?
You may try to see if they have it on their site.
LOL It didn't say, except on the packaging which was recycled long ago. 😃 Its a good brand, I see them all over at the computer/electronics mall.. Where did you got yours?

My BT is generic aswell (OEM), and I bought it just outside northpoint in Yishun, a small neighborhood IT store.
No no, I mean where you download the software?

I got it from here. However, when I try to go in today, the site seems to be down. Perhaps you can try later. Hope it works on your BT.
I downloaded but it still does not work, you know, when it asks you for to set the computer/device name, I set it, and it always reverts back to nothing, as if nothing was configured. That is why the P800 cannot detect and connect to the computer.. But I have no idea how to fix it.

hmmm that's odd, never happened to me. I've sucessfully installed it to 2 PCs and 2 notebooks (all XPs), so far nothing like that ever happened
