Am having a strange problem since I upgraded to R2D. I cannot seem to change the rigntone for DATA (SMS, etc). I can change the ringtone for voice, and when I do the same for data, I can see the new selection, even sample it by clicking that cute little horn icon. But when i receive an SMS, it only plays the default tone.
Tried a master reset, but no joy. An upgrade to R2F is pending, and maybe that'll solve the prob, but why should such an issue take place? Also, as I read through the forum, I find that many people have some issue or the other with a firmware upgrade.
Can anyone help, pls? TKS
I think that the setting you are changing is for incoming data calls, the notification of receipt of an SMS is set in :
Applications / Control Panel / Messaging accounts / Alerts
Alerts is selected from a small button at the bottom of the screen.

Jon, thanks a million. Feel really silly. Funny thing is I now remember that I had the same problem when I bought the fone a few months ago and had referred to the manual for the soln. Somehow, i just seem to have got stuck this time.
