MMS Error.

I'm a UK user on the Orange network.. Whenever a friend of mine sends me an MMS from his phone on the Vodafone network I receive the alert saying I have an MMS, I then try to download/receive it and it gets to say 20% and then says 'Bad name' and fails. This is on any message he sends, images, or sounds etc, any ideas?

i get exactly the same!!
orange have done the old sms sim update but no change there
others on here have hinted it is a problem with the phone

i think i will call orange again later, getting bored with this issue 😊

im on t-mobile and my brother sent me an mms last night on orange and it sent me a URl to go to instead

Sending an MMS from orange to vodafone works ok, but if you try sending an MMS from Vodafone to orange the orange user gets an error when they try and download a message.
I phoned orange last weekend about the problem and they said that the fault lies with vodafone but they are both working together to solve the problem. 😃

These problems have been on-going for, well, ever since MMS came on the market. Orange/Vodafone have the biggest problems, but largely because they use fundamentally different software at the network end and are probably the two biggest networks for 2.5G phones.

Compare to the US, where they are just getting MMS and freely admit that it will only be 'within network' for the forseeable future.

To be honest, it is probably cheaper and considerably more reliable to email the pictures to each other -- especially if you have a mailbox that SMSes you when you have incoming.
