URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!

hi there - ive looked everywhere for an answer to this but cant find it...

i lost my 7650 a couple of weeks ago. luckily (or so i thought), I had backed up the contacts list in Nokia PC suite for 7650s. Ive just managed to get hold of an 8210 as a temporary phone, and thought it would be easy to transfer the contact list to this phone - alas this is not the case...

tried to do it via NPCS7650, no luck. Tried to do it through NPCS8210, no luck. All i have in the backup folder of the NPCS7650 folder is 234 numbered .dat files, a filestore.dat file and a filestore.dat.txt file....

is anyone able to help? PLEEEEASE!!!!

thanks in advance
Mark

fraid I don't know about how the 8210 manages and imports data, but you may just be lucky if you try and convert the dat file of your contacts (organise the dat files by size, it'll be one of the 3 biggest) into a xls, csv format, by modifying the suffix, or just trying to open it with excel or access.

There is probably a lot of trash in the file (spaces...) but it may at least make the file easier to read, even if you can't convert it into a 8210 format

thanks for the reply...

I found the file and tried opening it in excel and access but no luck.... can make out a few names in amongst the junk but cant see any numbers.....

have tried importing it straight to the 8210 but it didnt like it, any other ideas?!

is there maybe a small prog that converts between contact file formats to import to differant nokia phones?!

over a year and still no closer to working this one out!

I still have the 7650 data backed-up on my pc but is there anyway to get it back onto my 6600?

I tried copying the backup folder in the 7650 NDS folder to the 6600 NDS folder but that didnt work!

anyone know what i can do? thought this would be a pretty common problem and there should be a pretty easy solution for it.

the 6600 data suite *should* allow you to use a 7650 backup to do a partial restore, if not, then copy your contacts and calendar files over the right files in the 6600 backup dir, and do a restore of the modified 6600 backup.

would those be the files not in the backup subfolder, but in the main NDS folder?

because i tried copying all the files in the backup dir over, then tried just restoring the contacts but it came up with corrupt data no the 6600

ill have a look at it again when in from work
