Nokia 7560 PC suite problems on XP using USB IR connection

We have a USB Infrared adapter for own Windows XP machine.

We are able to send messages from my wifes phone to the PC using it
as long as we use the Windows IR features.

Using the PC Suite 7650 1.2 (the version that's meant to work for XP)
is a different story.

The main problem is that 'mrouter' starts to detect the 7650 and
then crashes.
Is the problem that PC suite only support IR devices using the
serial port mappings - if so any way to get around that?

The other problem we had was being told that a resource was
being used by something in use.

We also have the 9210i PC installed for my phone.
We deinstalled that and tried again - no change.

So another question here is how to we disable the Windows XP
IR detection in such a way that PC suite can find the 7650
instead of windows doing this?

We havn't tried bluetooth yet because the adapters are being sold here for the equilent of 75-100 pound each.

Weird problem, I use XP at home and have no trouble with IR connectivity and my 7650. Admittedly I am still using the earlier pc suite which is not supposed to be fully compatible with xp.

Some things I have noted though

- sometimes you need to have only one person logged in or else it detects the phone connected under the other person's login (if that makes sense).

- try changing the driver from the default (mine was sigmatel 4012) to 4000 via the ir connection properties box.

- have you right clicked on mrouter and made sure only the IR connection is ticked? Sometimes having an external modem can interfere(had this issue on win2k). Try uininstalling the modem and setting up the phone connection, then install the modem again.

Never had mrouter crash, and I have pc suite for 7650 on my login, and pc suite for 7210 on the gf's login (had to fiddle the registry a bit to get this working though).

Actually I also tried the original 7560 PC suite and had problems with that too. I might try sending these crash dumps somewhere.

The only environment where it worked as expected is a laptop with Windows 2000 and a proper IR port (mapped as a COM port) instead
of a USB IR adaptor.

As you the multiple user problem that does not suprise me in the slightest
PC suite is very fussy - the problem is that the PC suite programs
are called in the user startup and not as a service - so you might need to use Task Manager to kill off the parts of PC suite that belong to the other user and then try again.

This includes:
SCRFS, MROUTER etc.

The latest problem is the 'connection manager' not listing any COM ports whatsoever.

I trying reinstalling - for which you really must use the registry cleaner from the Nokia site - still problem.

Do you know of a file manager on the phone that can make a copy of the contacts.cdb file and overwrite it if needed?

I experienced problems with the PC Suite too.
I used a bluetooth connection, but it isnt recognized by the computer,
it says that no phone is connected.
But the connection works when I try to send applications from the pc to my phone and vice-versa.
