HI
MY P800 GOT STOLEN 2DAY AT WORK, IVE RANG ORANGE TO BLOCK IT AND THEY HAVE CORRUPTED THE PHONE.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW IS THERE ANYWAY OF READING A BACKUP THAT I MADE B4 THE PHONE GOT STOLEN BECAUSE ALL MY CONTACT NUMBERS WHERE ON THEIR.
VERY DISTRESSTED AND MAD INDY, P.S MAKE SURE YOU PEOPLE INSURE YOUR PHONES, UNLIKE ME!!
CONTACT ME IF U WANT AT:
So sorry to hear it... :-? 😞
Why not? Format the (corupted) phone and do a normal restore.
How can they "corrupt the phone". I think the only thing they can do is block that SIM.
Everyone should have a power-on password on their phones to block people from using the stolen phone!
The backup files are essentially zip files. You can unzip them, but the problem is reading the file format from the contact database. Try using notepad, maybe you'll figure it out.
they block the sim and blacklist the imei number as well. so the phone cannot log onto any network and the sim can't be used in any other phone.
If you get a replacement phone you'll be able to restore an old backup (File>Import) but otehr than that, I dunno.
Commiserations anyway 😞
Can they only blacklist the number if you know it?
As I dont keep a record of mine and it might be worth doing...
Orange keep a record of the imei. If you ge4t a replacement sent out you can restore just as you would normally.
so is it not possible 2 do an insurance job and sell the fone on?
no, the phone will be barred on all networks
no, the phone will be barred on all networks
all uk networks that is.
penelties for un-barring phones are up to 5 years, hasnt happened yet but it will.
to recover without having a phone is real easy.
export backup with sony backup/restore software to ecs format.
change name from p800-1.ecs so extention is .zip
then open in winzip.
i opened the file in notepad and recognised the garbage.
