I wanna buy a new Symbian mobile, and I think the best choice would be no else than the latest 6600.. but theres a problem that I can't find any specific softwares for 6600 over the net.. All i see is "Series 60 section" everywhere for all symbian devices indicated mostly for 7650 / 3650. Please anyone can tell me that do all these softwares of 7650 work on 6600 ? or is 6600 a differnt version of symbian ( coz I heard from someone is Series 70 .. :-? ), coz I have seen many problems with softwares that are running fine on 7650 don't work with 3650 even.. please help and explain all aspects briefly..

From what I have read (you can't believe everything you read on the net...) all software written for symbian v6 should work on symbian v7.
The 2 major problems with 7650 vs 3650 software compatibility have been the MMC and keypad layouts. So I would think that if a program works on the 3650 it will work on the 6600 too (keypad layout notwithstanding).
The reason you see nowhere devoted to 6600 software is because the phone is not released to the public yet. Expect it in december this year, or early next year (2004).
You might also want to consider the Siemens SX1 which is a bit more radical and has FM radio + stereo output, due for release in August this year.

Series 60/Symbian 6.1 applications should run on Series 60/Symbian 7.0s (note the 's', which make it different from the earlier 7.0 with no 's'😉. I.e., 7.0s should be binary compatible with 6.1 (i.e., 6.1 binaries will install & run unmodified on 7.0s).
The 6600 will be based on 7.0s, but, e.g., the Sony Ericsson P800 is based on 7.0.
So, in effect, most Series 60 applications (at least those not using undocumented APIs) available today, should work on the 6600, when it becomes available.
