ICQ for 3650

Hi,
I know that O2 in Germany is offering ICQ for the 3650, has anyone actually downloaded it yet? Unfortunatly since they are only allowing German O2 customers download it ATM I haven't seen it and would like to know wether it works for users of other networks... (can't see why it wouldn't, might need a language pack/crack tho).

Incidenatlly it is a FREE download so if anyone over there is on O2 I'd recommend giving it a look.

As far as I know, there are many other/free ICQ (instant messaging) clients for the 3650. Search for IM+, TiPic, etc.

all of you need this:
Agile Messenger
Description: AgileMessenger v1.0 - This great software from Agile Computing offers connectivity to all major pc instant messaging services (Yahoo!, ICQ, MSN and AOL). This product is still in beta phase and IS FREE so feel free to test it.
Version: v1.00 Filesize: 87.89 Kb

I've tried it and I can thoroughly recommend it! I've also tried Tipic and JustYak but neither are as good as AgileMessenger.

One question I have though, and it's more of an IM question in general than an AgileMessenger one, is this; is there any way to get new Yahoo! email notifications to actually send a message to the conversation window of the app instead of just flashing an icon in the PC IM app?

In other words, when I get a new Yahoo! email, my PC based Yahoo! IM client immediately flashes an icon in my tray to let me know I have a new email, but on my 3650, using AgileMessenger, nothing happens. Obviously that's because the notification is not being sent to the conversation window. Is there any way I can change this?

If I could the 3650 would be as good to me as a Blackberry.

Well I've tried TipicMe and JustYak but the Agile Messenger wins hands down. Excellent application!

I just don't understand why the makers of IM+ don't provide a free trial. I'm never going to pay for it without trying it now that Agile Messenger is available. Don't get me wrong - I don't mind in the least paying for good software. But I also don't like paying for it when I can't try it first.

Obviously you have not looked on their website then?
and downloaded their free trial demo?

The difference with IM+ over the others is that you are connected directly to the service, not via a proxy.

I like agile messanger but I don't like the fact all my messages go through their server - also when I disconnect from agile I still show as online for up to 4 hours - people send me messges and I never see them!

IM+ does not do this as it connects directly to the MSN/ICQ etc. servers.

Thou the interface on agile is nice - it's IM+ that wins for me.

Well, 'obviously' I had seen that, but I'll admit I should have been more careful in my choice of words. That version you refer to is an old v. 2.18 and rather crippled (You can exchange text messages only. Number of messages is limited to 2 per connection). The latest version is 3.12 so it's almost a full point release old.

When I talk of being able to get a free trial I mean of the CURRENT version and NOT crippled.

Sure, but it still gives you enough to try the software to see weather it's what you want, which is what a 'demo' version is for??

The main difference between that version and the current version is that the new version has 'yahoo' support.

But if you prefer Agile then thats your choice 😊

Like I said - I like Agile apart from the fact your connection goes via them first - but if thts not important to you then thats fine 😊

Best

.

I like agile m. But i dont like the sound when message arrive . s it possible to change it off? And what about the others which soft. has the option of sound?

Not sure about Agile, IM+ uses the default ICQ sounds for new user online & new message, not seen an option to change it but you could probably switch the .wav files with a file explorer - maybe you could do the same with Agile? I don't have it installed anymore.
