has anyone seen a usful telnet client for p800?
telnet client
i got a telnet client from the epocware site that was freeware but i havnt used it gotto to make a serial lead for the thing first but thats another project
Perhaps something like this will do?
i could see a telnet client at epocware, could you give us a link?
a serial cable, sounds ambitious. you are talking about serial for telnet?
i dont know, will mochasoft telnet into a cisco router/switch, which i guess is the real standard?
Sorry, but I have absolutely no idea... -I guess you just have to give it a try? Here's another telnet client.
cheers for that.
mochasoft telnet, tested demo, and yes works fine with cisco. a serial cable would be too much, never need a laptop again on half my running around.
sorry not epoc http//my-symbian.com/uiq/download/index.php instead, serial link is for connecting to signalling devices at work and viewing the data stream got one for my laptop but i really really want to do it with beast (p800)

Presumably the Ericsson serial cable would work? It has an RS232 port on one end and the standard Ericsson connection on the other. I still have one from my Ericsson R380. But without having run the telnet software on my P800 I don't know if these 2 telnet clients (Mocha Telnet and NewTelnet) also work as terminal emulators. Presumably they work as telnet clients over GPRS and therefore the Internet, with the carrier assigned IP address. But what about over a direct serial connection?
Not much good if they can only access the Internet as most times I'd be likely to use them would be on a LAN (behind the firewall) with a direct connection and no IP.
