Have you read the manual? Perhaps it is explained there (I don't know because I never read manuals 😉 )
Checked the manual and can't see anything relating to physical placement of sim
Thanks, So I hav to take the back cover off to change the sim?
Is it advisable for someone with no special tools / knowledge of phones to try this?
Where do I pull / push?
Thanks
You shouldn't need any special tools.
Just pull the slider down, then gently push the grey top up.
Be careful not to touch the gold metal though when you're changing SIM card. And of course, make sure the phone is off first.
Cheers
OK. have removed the grey cover.
Now how do I remove and replace the sim card without toughing the gold metal?
Thanks.
P.S.
I am doing this to try to unlock the phone so I can use an orange pay as you go sim card.
My contract is about to expire with T-mobile and I have been given an unlock code. I was told to remove the sim card, then enter the unlock code, does anyone know if this is the right thing to do?
Cheers
I can get it out fine with my fingers. It's okay to touch the gold metal a little bit, but only touch it if it's necessary, as I believe it is the phone aerial.
As for the unlocking, sorry, I have no idea whether to do it with the SIM in or not.
Cheers
Oh come on!!
This is surley a wind up.
You can't seriously tell me this guy is having trouble removing the sim????
😮 😮 😮
I've never had a problem with touching the gold metal??? What's with the warning against it?
I have had trouble removing some sims though - some are fatter than others - I had to get some needlenose pliers to get my gf's prepay sim out - it was a VERY snug fit! My ordinary sim slides out no problems though 😊
i would put my thumb on the top bit and then push down and slide out,
by the way, why do you need your phone unlocking? on tmobile contracts, they don't lock the phone down, in my xp, only orange do with their own personalised phones, and vodafone live branded phones
apart from orange and vodafone live handsets, i think all the phones are just the same, meaning that a model of phone is shipped, and the shop just puts a sim card with it, so if you go in to buy a 7650 on o2, but change your mind to tmobile, it would be the same handset but just with a different sim card, therefor unlocking it woulnd't be necassary,
my 7650 on t mobile was never locked, neither was my 8890 on vodafone, nor was my 7110 on o2

The guy at Carphone Warehouse (NSC) said it's either the aerial, or a connector to the aerial (I forget what he said), so if you touch it too much you could damage the aerial.
Whether or not it's true, I don't know, I'm just passing the info on.
