Complete newbie question re: Skins/Branding

Hiya,

I have developed J2ME MIDP applications for series 60 phones before, but was wondering if I can also brand the whole phone's UI so that it is consistent with the games I have made.

I know that I can do this using programs like 3Dlab's Trigenix product, and also SmartLauncher, so I know that it is possible to do.

My problem is that I cannot find any information on how to do this on any sites. I have scoured Forum Nokia, and many other pages on how to do this, even starting points (I assume I need to make a Symbian SIS-style application).

If anyone has any information on this, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian.

Why don't you just use one of these tools? Why make your own, when these are available?

Apologies for the first post being a 'Guest' one. Still getting the hang of the forum/logging in process at the moment :-?

Why don't you just use one of these tools? Why make your own, when these are available?

Two reasons:

1) Because the available programs don't do exactly what I want them to do (otherwise I would have used them - no problem). I want less functionality out of them (i.e. only one 'skin' allowed, no option for getting new skins, a smaller memory footprint, more option for customisation of screen elements and their on-screen position - loads of reasons and loads more I could think of!), but want to use the branding opportunities they provide (i.e. the basic functions these programs provide).

2) Money. I want to brand hundreds of these phones. Both the above programs cost money per phone that it is installed on. It costs less to use an in-house developer in the long run, and will (hopefully) save time on installation.

As before, any help would be much appreciated, cheers!

Adrian.
