Do movies on p800 lag or slow down after playing for a long time. I seem to remember reading about this for the nokia 3650 and wondered if p800 suffered with the same problem

No not really, but I've experienced the sound to lag sometimes, especially during a really long clip(30-40min.). What seems to get the sound back in sync is to pause and restart the clip.
This also depends on how well the encoding/coverting to MP4 went, and the quality of the source file.
