i honestly think that it is much easier/and very practical to program user interfaces for P800s using AppForge... but why do some programmers still prefer using C++.... Well i like C++ because its more challenging but i've seen the the my-symbian website and it seems that almost all of the p800 programs are written using appforge..
So im just thinking what are the advantages of using C++ over AppForge? and why do some programmers still prefer C++..
C++ over AppForge
Access to system features VB/AppForge can't get to? (= More control.)
Faster/smaller code without the need for an extra runtime environment as part of your app?
No AppForge royalty/mark-up for commercial products? (If there is such.)
A little off topic.
Maybe you should start a poll in the p800 forum and ask for opinions from users.
Do you know how many of them are actually scared of using AppForge?
It seems that apps written using AppForge or maybe the runtime itself is very buggy piece of software.I have read loads of posts where a p800 was rendered unusable after installing/using an app written using AppForge.
Maybe the number of apps written using AppForge is larger but all the bestsellers are native Symbian C++ apps.
appforge might be nice for little apps.... something like j2me... but it's so buggy.. ohh well, read above 😊))
Native C++ apps - more control, more speed and no need for anyone to install appforge...
