on my 9210i, I have problems with interference on the headset and maintaing the connection. It only takes a very small movement on the headset connector to cause this. I also sometimes have problems with the GPS connection. Looking at the bottom end of the phone, I see two potential causes for these problems:
1) the case has some scratches on it which could imply mechanical damage to the multi socket itself
2) the plating on some of the contacts has worn off, particularly on 2 of the 4 headset contacts.
It occurred to me that there is an outside chance of being able to take the connection out of my old 9210 and use it to replace the one in the 9210i. I remember seeing some instructions/pictures of a dis-assembeled 9210 on this site but can't find the thread. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Any other tips / suggestions most welcome
Got a mail box that can take about 3meg? if so PM me it as I have a something for you which will help.
Also you need a t6 screwdriver.
PM sent, thx for the help.
Mail sent, the bottom plug is the same for all the them (9110 (i) 92xx (i) ) so it will fit, the only thing I can say when taken the phone apart is don't force anything, if you do get stuck I can do it for you if you want to post it to me.
Good luck.
Wow,you two guys are 2 great technicians! 😉
That doesn't apply to me - I'm just pissed off with the crackle in my ear and losing the GPS signal when I need it most! I figured someone here might be able to help and it looks like I struck lucky.
I have stripped my 9210 apart a few times now replaced the screen and the UI board and the casing, also done a upgrade on the software so now running V4.14 on my 9210 not the normal V4.13.

Why 4.14? What does that mean?
Most of the 9210 run version 4.13, 4.14 was released for Orange as it was better (something to do with network problem) so unless you have a Orange 9210 which had the upgrade you will be running V4.13.
No orange...Even beacause I have a 9210i... :P
Lonegunman,
Thanks very much for your help - I took the backs off and swapped the connectors over last night and that seems to have dramatically improved the connection quality so far. I haven't yet tried the GPS out.
What's more, both units are still working despite my best efforts!
No problems,glad to help. 😃
Well if u ask me, i think it already due for a new one! 😉
i also could really use the mail you sent him, got a crack in casing and need to superglue it, but i have to disassemble it first, my email is , please send me the stuff.
