I have an important problem with my new Nokia 9210. I want to connect it to my PC which runs in Windows XP. I downloaded the PC Suite from Nokia web page but it does not work in my PC, it have not been installed because the installation stops always before finishes. My Pc does not have a serial port so I have to use the IR o buy an adaptor.
Please help me and thank you
I know most people do not want to hear this advice but since your a newbie it is advisable for you to use the search function... all your questions will be answered there. After learning a little bit about your communicator we'll be able to provide assistance for you since nobody wants to post their advice more than once, twice or whatever...
Anyways by being patient you'll be able to maximize the uses of your communicator, so seek and you shall find, happy hunting!! 😃
Never had a problem and I use it on XP every day. PC Suite installed fine and works great!
I use XP with serial cable and I've never had problems (well, some, but they're irrelevant). I know there have been issues in using IR, the stability may not always be perfect. Can't remember hearing anything about unsuccesful installation though.
I use XP and don`t have a serial connection, or PS2. Only USB
And I have 6 months since I did not sync my 9210

Just imagine... I have 2 communicators and 2 Macs with OS X... Nokia simply ignores the Mac users, thanks a lot!
Well, that`s why I did not switch to Mac OS Notebook. I am still carrying the old Compaq Presario 1700 😮ops:
Rapelbil,
Firstly, I have to say that I am running my PC on XP, and have no trouble with PC Suite. However, I have to ask two things.
1. How come you had to download PC Suite form the Net. What happened to your CD-ROM which came with the 9210.
2. You say your PC doesn't have a serial port, which sounds rather strange, which leaves me wondering if you have an old PC which is struggling to cope with XP in the first place.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
David.

Actually, most of the new laptops don't have the serial port anymore. As well as the ps2 port which is mostly been upgraded to an extra usb port...
but it is strange, since every new pc is still equippet with an invention from the 70's.... a floppy drive, why would they replace other old parts? 😃

Nokia sometimes release an updated version of PC Suite. This can be downloaded from their website and will usually supercede the one you got on the CD with the 9210.
Tomahawk,
Interested in your info; do you know when the last up-date of PC Suite was, as I got my 9210 in late 2001.
Thanks in anticipation.
David.
The last up-date of Nokia 9210 Software was in May 2003. You can find it in the web-page of Nokia: www.nokia.com
