IrDA, XP, PC Suite & 7650 problems!

13 replies · 5,775 views · Started 29 July 2002

i have a SigmaTel USB IrDA adaptor on XP Pro which works great with my T68i.

i just today got a 7650, installed PC Suite fine, but it won't detect my phone via IR (and yeah, i did enable IR in the phone itself).

when i click on the connection properties icon in the taskbar, it lists 3 com ports and my infrared port. 99% of the time the status says "not connected", once it said "connecting" and then died. therefore it won't let me start PC Suite, as it cannot detect my phone.

any help is very much appreciated!

Hello well ok great not at the right end of your comp screen please click the connection type ikon and select IR for using with sigmatel.
I too have I and it connects well.
Do it and let me know.
Where are you from.
Take care

me too have the same problem ... but not so sure of the steps you given. Can pls describe more in details??

did your IR adapter comes with its own drivers?
if u are using the drivers supplied by your IR adapter..u can try roll back the drivers to the ones XP installs for u the first time u connect it.

i did have the same problem but after rolling back my drivers..it works perfect now

i try to roll back , but was prompted no backup driver stored.

any more suggestions that i can try out?

hmmm...did u try uninstalling the drivers and everything...and connect back your IR port and let XP try to auto install the XP drivers..

and if u are successful..u need to reinstall PC suite to get it working with the XP drivers
u might need to tweak some settings under your IR driver..try playing with the option "infrared transceiver type"

managed to get it working fine, after finding a solution searching through google groups.

my IR dongle is a V6102F, or at least thats what the sticker says on its underside. So in device manager, i set the driver to use this, as stated in the dongle instructions.

wrong!

when i set it to read as a 6101E it works fine.

nice one SigmaTel...NOT!

anyway, all is well and my beloved 7650 now talks to my PC fluently.

I can't get my 7650 connected to my windows XP PC! and I am about to freak! Can anyone stop my freaking from happening?

update your irda driver at sigmatel website. it will works fine.

Not a problem to my XP Pro. I'm using MSI's USB Bluetooth Transceiving Key to connect my 7650 to PC, it work so smoothand stable.

Ferris,

I wonder if there is a option to ON your IR hardware? Becoz, I did face such a problem at first when bluetooth device did not detech my N7650 until I turn ON it. What I did was goto My BlueTooth Places, right click on Bluetooth Serial Connection and click CONNECT. The mRouter will pickup any bluetooth device within 10M radius.

As for your IR device, perhap there is also such a thing? Perhaps you check on your Control Panel settings.

I hope that will help you........
