DVD to MP4

Has anyone figured out how to create an MP4 files for the P800 from a DVD? I've just ordered a 128MB memory card and want to see if I could fit a film on the memory card when I get it by turning one of my DVD films into an MP4 file.

Have dont a search with members saying how to change different file types into an MP4 type, but no one has mentioned (as far as I can see) how to 'rip' the movie from the DVD itself... :-?

..you have to use a dvd ripper (program) first, in order to transfer the data from the dvd to your harddisk..

you need to do an all night job of ripping the dvd to mpeg2, then that would be easiest to convert into mp4 i would have thought, but ripping it to avi first would also suffice but again, i think it's an all night job going at 1 frame per second

Any idea of where I can get a decent DVD rippper from guys? :-?

If you could give me a website that would be great! 😃

go on kazaa, type in "dvd ripper" and download the pack which includes all the programmes, tpgenc and two more, i got mine in a zipped up file which has all the programmes 8)

goto yahoo.com and search for "kazaa lite" never, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER............NEVER download kazaa from kazaa.com or whatever their site it, it contains spyware and all those nasty pop-ups, i have a copy of the program, mail me if you cant find kazaa lite. 8)

it's diet kazaa lite, no spyware and max bandwidth

I've been using the normal kazaa,if i uninstall it will the spyware be removed? What makes kazaa lite different?
Cheers.

No, the spyware won't be removed if you uninstall it. You need the (free) app Ad-adware to do that!

Kazaa Lite is actually the same as Kazaa, only without the spyware and with high bandwith (pretty much the same as nk8 said allready 😉 )

If you are ripping from DVD you want the best quality possible.

If you rip to MP2 the quality will be reduced greatly then when encoding that to MP4 you will loose quality again. Plus the file will have to be decompressed and then comprssed taking a much longer time.

Therefore you should rip uncompressed (large file sizes) or at a 'greater' format (AVI) OR beter still find a ripper that will use a MP4 codec to rip straight to the right size.
