Hey guys out there.. Do you have high speed data in use? I read that Russ Spooners revew "First Impressions of the Nokia 9210" and he says that 9600 is painfull... of course it is, but it's very fast when you surf at 43,2 v.120.. I thought that maeby orange (or others service providers) do not have HSCSD in use.. Is that right??

Hi There,

Yes I have HSDC working on Orange using a Demon Internet V120 dialup. It's great, almost as fast as a 56k modem. I highly recommend it. It is only an extra 5 subscription per month to have the service from Orange and then normal call charges whilst you are connected.

Hello,

I also have a 9210 on Orange and I'm having trouble with the dialup. Could you post your settings please?

I cannot seem to connect at all through v120, just on v110 - but on this I get a weird results, such as the connection freezing after about 50k... maybe it's the connection strings I'm using.

Also I haven't been able to get the script working at all on demon and am having to resort to lineone (I can get 28kbps) through this...

Please, please could you post you dialup confiduration for demon such as access number, init string and script.

very much appreciated.

Best regards,

Michael Angel.

There wouldn't be too much difficult in releasing a 9210 with GRPS (and I suspect Nokia will do this when GRPS is actually mor widely available - Spring 2002?). Whether you'll be able to upgrade or not is open to debate I'd say. I dont know anything about the mechanics/ tech behind GRPS, but maybe hardware maybe software?

GPRS is very different hardware and i can't believe that Nokia make 9210 with gprs. Also bluetooth is so many HW things, i suppose that even it can fit in Bluetooth battery like 6210. There will be 6310&8310 and maeby next communicator is more like 3G. This is just my opinion..

Janne

Hi Michael,

My Demon Internet Dial up settings are as follows

Connections settings (Control panel -> Internet settings)

Connection Name Demon
Phone Number +441212759666
Password Promt No
Username *********
Password********
Confirm Password********

Advanced Settings
Use Proxy Server No
Connection Type High Speed
Remote Modem Type V.120 ISDN
Max. Connection Speed 43200
Modem Initialisation
Allow plain text login Yes
Use PPP compression Yes

This works just fine without any other settings or having to use a script. However you MUST have set up HSDC with Orange first or it will not work at all. The HSDC service is an extra 5 per month (Dial 150 from your Orange phone to get it set up).

I use the 0121 dial up number so that my calls are counted as inclusive minutes. If you use an 0845 dial up number Orange will charge you for the call on top of your inclusive minutes!

All the best

I was bought the 9210 but its on the vodafone network User posted image .

Hi There,

I don't know, but I doubt if you can get HSDC on a pre-pay SIM. Why not ask them?

You can contact Orange Just Talk on 07973 100 451
