ETI Camcorder TIPS n' TRICKS

Hi everyone,

Version 1.0 of ETI Cam has changed so much, it virtually rendered our previous user guide useless... and who has got the time to write another user manual? 😉 Anyway, I hope this guide will somehow fill in some of the voids for the time being:

CAMCORDER
----------------
1. Shortcuts. To change recording qualities you no longer have to fiddle through the settings page. First make sure you are displaying the status icons (pic:hi aud😮n stuff) by turning it on through the settings page. Now at the viewfinder window, press "1", "2", or "3" and watch the quality indicator cycles through "hi", "std", and "lo"! Furthermore, pressing the "abc" (on 3650 this is the little pen button) key toggles audio on and off.

2. Aside from showing the recording duration, the viewfinder also can show the size of the video/audio being recorded. Turn that on through the settings page - look for something called "Show Size".

3. What's that "audio codec - speech/general" thingy? Well, in technical terms, the speech codec uses AMR while the general codec uses ADPCM for compressing audio. AMR is a codec specially designed for compression speech content (conversions). It offers many times higher compression ratio than ADPCM. However, it does not handle all types of audio well - for example, music usually sounds pretty awful... The general thumb of rules is this - use the general codec most of the time. A combination of LOW quality video and Speech codec is best suited for recording long and boring conversations and speeches (in the next upgrade we will also add a no-video mode). DO NOT EVER use the speech codec with Hi quality video setting! The AMR codec pretty much brings the video part to a halt... the result won't be very pretty (ok... you have been warned... use it at your own "risks"😉 😉

--------------
1. Shortcut: To delete the video, you can just press "c" (not the alphabat, but the circular (c) button)

PLAYER
---------
1. Step by step. Now you can step through the video frames by pressing the left/right arrow keys (or the joystick on the 7650).

2. Fast forward/rewind. Press and hold the left/right keys (joystick). Works just like a TV remote.

3. Volume adjustment via the up/down key.
