This looks very interesting! 😃
I'm going to try it out when I get in touch with my brother who also owns a P800. I'm very curious to see how well the "Walkie-Talkie" function works... 😃

the push to talk is also in that subscription msn text programme, the rest could be done through bluetooth though couldn't it?
? What?
I remember another "push to talk" program a while back, but you had to pay a monthly fee and sh!t for using it.. - That alone makes a HUGE difference from this one.
Bluetooth??? :shocked!: Sorry, but I really don't get what you're on about? Bluetooth in P800 only has a radius of 10 METERS...
Why would you need a walkie talkie function on a phone? 😮
Unless you're in a different country and want to save call costs, but then wouldn't you incur even higher gprs costs?
@Raven
How do the mob communicate with each other?? i dont get it? u would still have to pay calling charges right??
(All they have to do is just push a button to connect to the other smart device. They are communicating, no matter where they are, in a faster, cheaper and more secure way. )
I dont get this line ???
Not sure yet, Jonomac.. 😊
Call charges over here, as well as SMS is damn expensive, we don't have those nice plans you UK peeps have.. But I have yet to try it though, so I don't know if it would make a big enough difference cost-wise, nor how well(fast) it works...

Nope, that's the whole point of the program: NO CALLING OR SMS/MMS CHARGES, everything works through GPRS - sending instant voice messages/text messages/pics/files etc.. 😉
But again, I don't know how well it works... Have to get hold of my brother to try it out with another P800..
Raven - I agree it SHOULD be over gprs..
this program runs over a dial up data connection....
it works pretty well for file transfer, text transfer and seems to send voice clips - but I haven't managed to play them from the received device. I don't think I'm recording correctly.
oh - and when you dial you need to take off the +44 bit and replace it with 0 or it won't work....

What?! 😮 It doesn't work over GPRS?
Then why do they state in the program description that:
CoMobi is optimized for GSM/GPRS network and could be easily customized for 3G networks.
This begs the question that, if it is over a dial up connection would it take longer to send packets of voice data backwards and forwards than to have the actual conversation over a normal line? 😃
I'm gutted too...
but while it may work on a gprs/gsm network this program is only using the gsm bit....
WTF? That makes it completely useless then..

Let me see if I've got this straight, 'cause it's all getting most confudlicating.
This revolutionary new program allows the user to send data and voice over a GSM network to another phone!
Mmmm, sounds vaguely familiar?
I guess it is stuck at 9.6kbps and presumably charged at normal mobile to mobile rates it could get expensive!
- I can't see how I could use hscsd either.
lol... Yeah, what an unbelievable flaw.. 😃
It looked so promising.. WTF are these people thinking?!
Unless we've all been misinformed about it only working on GSM?
in the user manual Q&A it says
Q: Can I connect to a PC with CoMobi
A: We are planning to release a PC windows based verion of CoMobi client. Check this point after Q3 2003.
if you can access from a PC (presumably not through a direct dial-up connection!) they ought to be able to sort out a gprs solution for the p800...
Jonomac - I could be wrong - but when you start a connection using a standard mobile number it is definately dial-up. Check out the user manual
Yes you're correct WILBUR, and the image you've provided confirms this as the icon next to the word "Data" has the Dial up phone symbol rather than the GPRS globe symbol....
Oh dear what are Comobi thinking of.....?
Thanks Raven
Looks like not so cheap afterall if u have to dial the oher mob everytime
Is this application a waste of time and money?
It seems to me that the P800 already does everything this application has to offer.... strange
Maybe we should contact the developers and clear this up.This app has great potential, but if it works only with data calls, its useless.
-Edit-
How does CoMobi work?CoMobi is a single user application, which allows direct connection between two users of smart devices. In order to establish the connection, the smart solution uses the full capacity of the data channel of the mobile operator. CoMobi is optimized for GSM (up to 14.4 kbps) and HSCSD (up to 57.6 kbps) networks.
This is from CoMobi's website.I'm contacting them right now, lets hope they will respond soon and hopefully resolve some of the issues.
Well, the new version of Comobi, version 2.0, does works with GPRS!
