Screen Protectors help

Any1 used the brando and martin fields screen protectors? If so, which one is better as in
- thickness (thinner the better)
- material quality (doesnt dull the colours)
- fits perfectly on the screen (bought some cheap brand and its not cut properly 😞 )

cheers

I have used both Brando's and Martin's... but in my opinion Martin's suites my needs - my recommendation.

can someone tell me if the martin fields fits exactly on the screen or does it slide into the gaps? Same goes with brando

cheers

Martin Fields fantastically clear. Brando not so clear, clarity suffers. BUT Martin Fields picks up fingerprints like CRAZY!!! Like metal to magnets!!! As for the Brando, does not pick fingerprints so easily unless u have very oily fingers and any fingerprints are also not so easily noticeable.

I also noticed some scratches on my Martin Fields just from the stylus (but not deep ones, not noticeable when the screen is on and the light is on). The Brando? One tough baby! Absolutely no scratches!

Therefore, its a trade off. Depends whether your priority is clarity (but with fingerprints) or more protection (and no fingerprints). Clarity= Martin Fields. More protection= Brando.

Both protectors fit the screen size exactly and does not slip into the sides.

If i slip a screen protector into the gaps of a p800, will it get damaged? It will only be about 1-2mm in the gap. I was told that by doing this, it might damage some PDAs due to the thickness of the protector.
This may seem to be a stupid post, but i want to be on the safe side.

cheers

Nothing stupid about that question whatsoever.

The G2 screen protecter is designed to slide under the edges. I had no problems using it on my P800, so I think you should be safe. Worst case scenario is part of the screen being pressed constantly, thereby obscuring the touch sensibility. Removing the protecter should fix that..

I am going to try out something different, which may or may not be a good solution.. I have already bought the MFOP (Martin Fields..), but I got frustrated by the edges of it picking up dirt. Also got bend at the bottom, once I tried removing the lower front cover..

So now I have ordered a MFOP for a bigger screen than the P800. When it arrives, I will open the P800 and remove the screen (not as dangerous as it sounds). I will then cut the MFOP to cover the complete screen, not just the visible part. I believe this will be a perfect solution. Giving the MFOP clear view of the naked screen, no disturbing edges and yet provide full protection..

In a few days I will know if this is the idea of the century, or if I have totally misjudged this thing 😊

I have both. Though Martin's is absolutely clear, I like to write on the Brando's much more than on the Martin's.

But in the end, clarity rules, at least for me.

sbc,

let me know the exact measurement (to the mm) so i can cut it before opening it up. Anyone else know the exact measurement - to cover the whole screen (not just the visible) or starting from the black edge?

cheers

i am looking for a screen protector that is clear (like martin fields) & fingerprint proof (like brando) unless your fingers are dipped in oil.
It can be for any PDA, doesnt matter what brand/model it is for because i will be cutting it to fit the screen. (look at my above post)
Any suggestions?

cheers

LOL, do you know screen protectors stick on without opening your phone? it just sticks onto the screen, nice and easy

yes i know but most screen protectors are 99% exact fit. Im after a screen protector where it slips under the gaps a little to stop dust from getting into the sides. I need to open the phone cos theres dust underneath the screen. So while im cleaning it, why not install a perfect screen protector. So back to my above post 😊

It's like a P800 graveyard 😃

Martin Fields all the way...

Tissue... if you want something bigger than your screen, then get a screen protector for a Palm/ handspring handheld... then just cut it to size. Martin fields might have something for that as well... not sure though

markiee: i know to get a palm screen protector, but what brand? im asking if anyone out there has used a really good palm screen protector and would recommend it for the P800 (will cut it to size). I was told martin fields screen protectors are really good in clarity but lacks in the fingerprint department. So im looking for best of both worlds - good clarity and fingerprint proof

cheers

Update:
What i did was ordering a Martin Fields for the iPaq. It arrived in Denmark after 4 days, having chosen the cheap, 'up to 6 weeks' shipping solution... 😊

I opened the P800 and cleaned the screen very carefully. Then I applied the complete iPaq screen protector and made sure it was on perfectly, before I removed the extra material with a scissor. It covers the full screen, so it also acts as a spacer to prevent the screen from detecting a pressure constantly from the edges. No need to measure anything, this way it fits 100% perfectly and is easy to put on.

For now I will say this is the perfect solution to the screen protector problem. Not much harder than putting a protector on the normal way, yet the result is so much better. I bet you would never know I have a screen protector on, if you saw my P800. The MFOP looks exactly like the naked screen, I have no edges of the protector looking awfull and picking up dirt, yet the expensive screen is protected.

Btw. No way to get clear screen and fingerprint proof. To prevent fingerprints, the surface must be changed like on the Brando. But once you do that, you distort the light passing through. I am afraid it is a fact of nature, but correct me if I am wrong...
