Some ringtones do not work anymore

A while ago,i downloaded a ringtone that was posted in the forum,Blackadder theme song.I really like Blackadder and having the ringtone was a lot of fun. After using it for a couple of months my phone when through couple of firmware updates and formats.

Few days ago i remembered how much i liked the BlackAdder ringtone and i downloaded it to my phone. The strange thing is,when i try to open the ringtone in order to play it back or save it i get: "Unable to open ringing tone" error.I'm sure it used to work, because i had the ringtone assigned to my brother's caller ID 😃

Has Nokia been naugthy?I'm on v 4.46.It would help if people with different firmware version test the ringtone i will post.

Well i have just downloaded the ringtone and sent it to my phone (7650)as a blue tooth message, firmware v3.16 and upon reading the message it opened composer but with blank information so i am unable to play it. which is a shame as black adder would be a cool tune.

well, both the rng and the mid play OK on my 7650, fw 4.47 (yes really!)

That, despite the fact this fw version seems less stable than 4.39

It's a shame you can't play them, they're great!

You can play the first file i uploaded,BlackAdder.rng ?This is really strange, and i did a hard reset a couple of days ago.

yes, the .rng works perfectly, both in the composer, and also once assigned to a number.

I really can't think why it works for me and not for you, although that is the first .rng I've imported onto the phone (generally use .mid files)

hope you can get it working again

Paul

This is a curse.Can anyone explain this?Just for the record,i don't have a problem with the midi's i posted,just the rng.

I cant play the rng tone on my 7650 (firmware 4.46). Somethings seems to be wrong in this firmware..

Does it really matter though? The midi files are much better quality than the .rng, so as long as you can play the midi, is there any real loss through not having the .rng?

Or is it just the frustration value?

Well,i don't know,i really liked the .rng and i was pretty used to it,but why from all the people in all the worlds who own a Nokia 7650 a simple ringtone wont play on mine? 😮ops:

If the phone was under warranty,i would've definitely requested a replacement 😃

Where have you the ring tones ("C:\Nokia\Sounds\Digital" vs. "C:\Nokia\Sounds\Simple"😉?

N/A,i thought of that too.I get the same error when I try to play the ringtone from the inbox after sending it from PC to Phone via BlueTooth and after copying it to "C:\Nokia\Sounds\Simple"
