Inspired by Jim Gasperini's amazing trick for pseudo stereo imagery on a computer I decided to try it out with my 3650.
It's not bad for a first attempt I think but as you can see, the worst results are around the edges. Can some graphics head tell me how I might rectify that with my graphics program please? I know that the 3650 is supposed to have corrected most of the barrel distortion evident in photos taken with the 7650 but I presume there's still some left? Should I use the barrel distortion correction function to rectify matters? What setting should I use? Thanks 😊
A tip for anyone who'd like to try is to measure the distance between your two corneas and then hold up the index finger of your left hand, horizonatally, taking the first phone with the top left corner of the phone touching the tip of that finger and then sliding the phone left (assuming right handed operation of phone) the distance you measured between your eyeballs. Hope that helps :angel:
UPDATE: I tried attaching it but it's too big at 317kb. :cry:
And seeing as I lose the animation by editing it again, and I've already deleted the original frames........ well, I'll try to do another one later.

The way these images are created is to take two photos the distance of your eyes apart and then combine them by creating an animated GIF. That's the reason they're so large - changing from much more photo compression friendly JPEG to GIF.
By making the animation quick enough it kind of fools the eyes into seeing a 3D effect which I agree is very cool. I can't find any info on his site about how he captures them but I imagine he's using a stereo camera, probably a digital one of which there do appear to be some on the market now. I'd prefer to be able to do it with the one gadget I carry around all day - my 3650.
Which leads me to suggest that this is surely something that could be automated by software? There are allready apps that take care of removing barrel distortion and aliging a sequence of photos for capturing panoramas (Photographer), and I've used a PC app for stitiching together photos for seamless panoramas so come on developers - create me a Stereo Imaging app for my 3650 and I'll gladly cough up some money for it. I won't even look for a free copy in lieu of my software patent 😉
