Today I viewed my 128mb MMC in a PC Card reader and it was totally fragged up!!
I ran a defrag on it and it may just be my imagination but my phone appears to be running smoother?
Videos and images appear to be opening quicker?
I guess that makes sense if the data was fraggmented.
Also I find that recording long videos with ETI cam a lot smoother and no more crashes?
Has anyone else ever defragged their MMC, and did you too see performance increases?
Best
Will.
Excuse my ignorance, but wot is defragging?Step by step instructions on how 2 do it pls. Thanx!
Err - you have a PC right, else you would not be in this Forum (unless you are wapping it here)
Do you not defrag your HDD?
It's the same thing, only on your MMC card, just that I've never really thought of doing it on my MMC untill today.

I don't fully understand why defragging should make a difference on this type of memory but, it does.
A tool is available for the Psion Series 5 from Atelier.
willbrady....... which prog used for defrag?
The standard defrag tool that comes with windows in your system tools.
😊
Anybody else tried defragging?

The way he is defragging it is with windows because he has an MMC card reader.
There would is a way to kind of defrag the mmc on the phone without a card reader though.....
if you copied all the files+folders off of the MMC to a temp folder on the PC,
Then format the MMC on the phone(not really required but might be a good idea)
Then copy the files+folders back from the PC to the phone.
i havent tried it, but it will work 😊

Yeay cRuNcHiE, i've even heard people say that that's a better way to do it b/c a MMC has a read/write limit and b/c defragging does A LOT of read/writes, they say it shortenst your MMC's lifetime! But they also say the number of reads/writes that can be done on a MMC is so high that it's not even worth worrying about. 😊
But anyway i also defragmentated my MMC about 2 months ago and i must say that i didn't see much of a difference in terms of speed. But it's always good to have your MMC properly arranged!
Check out this thread i started 2 months ago about defragging a MMC:

Well, perhaps it is just my imagination, thought it worth sharing with you guys thou.
and it DID appear to fix my video read/write problem in ETI Cam ?
