Motorola to use UIQ

Motorola has (according to the Register) licensed the UIQ interface for its Symbian based Paragon 3G Smartphone 😃 This is the same interface as the upcoming SE P800.

This is big news as it confirms that Motorola is producing a Symbian device. Also it provides competition for Nokia's platform 60/80 devices. Well variety is the spice of life. Hopefully this is just the 1st of many new Symbian based product announcements.

The Register has an article about this "GUI wars return: Motorola, Sony Ericsson tie-up"

I think this just confirms how dominant a position Symbian is in in the Smartphone industry. I notice that the Sendo smartphone is no longer mentioned in the latest Carphone Warehouse catalogue! Its probably just delayed again!
