I want to get a memory jacket as soon as it hits london stores (whenever that is) but for now as today is pay day, im going to try and buy a memory stick writer for my pc and maybe a memory stick...
this is because i find transfer to my p800 via sync-station very slow
would anyone recomend this? or is transfer quik for other ppl?
note- i want to transfer lots of movies/music to my memory in the future...
Get a Memory Stick reader?
Get the 128MB DUO first, because it fits inside the phone.
Spend 15 on a multi-format read/writer.
This is probably the quickest way to load MP3/MP4 files,
and also has the advantage that you can build a new playlist each
night using VB or whatever whilst keeping your phone next toyour bed
(unless you are such a geek that you keep computers in your bedroom)
There are rumours circulating that there is a real USB cradle for the P800,
(as opposed to the serial one that comes with the phone) although I've never seen one advertised (link, anyone?)
what do you mean serial one?
the cradle I have connects via USB!
I LOOKED AT EVERY SHOP IN MY TOWN - THEY reckon that you cant get 128mb in ENGLAND!
AAAAAAGH!
reply!
AZZ
Although the physical cable is a USB cable, the link established over it is a serial one. Very strange and confusing!
As for 128MB duos in the UK, there don't appear to be any in the UK. However, there are plenty of websites out there that will deliver to the UK. There was one mentioned last week in Jersey, plus there's Brando and P800er.com etc. A quick search should give you a few to choose from.

Its not complicated. Its a sign of lazyness!!! You can buy very cheap serial to USB bridge chips. Serial based comms is almost on every phone and SE (and just Erricson) have been doing it for ages, so to market it to the 'USB generation' slap a bridge chip in between the PC and the phone, and advertise latest comms methods, when its nohing of the sort.
One thing that will confirm this, can you buy USB 'SIMPLE' data cables for the P800. I say simple to mean just two plugs and wires, no further electronics (chips etc..). If this isn't possible then the Phone doesn't support usb, the sync station does, and truly is lazy!
From the drivers on the CD it looks like they used a chip similar to the ones we use at work, so they must be bridge chips.
Anyway, as for the 128MB duos, hmm.... after looking a for few weeks, I give up and got a 64Mb Duo, new from eBay for 29.99. To make up the for deficate in MP3 file number, I'll just use OGG files. Simple and astonishingly cheap!
There is a simple cable that purports to be USB available on the accessories site, but as to whether it is true USB or not I don't know.
Ages ago, on one of the threads about upgrading, someone said, "oh mine only took 20 minutes" (instead of 2 hours), and someone else said "that'll be the new DSS-20 USB cable". Since then, never found another reference to true USB connectors. I would like one too, cos I get nervous not being able to receive calls during the hour it takes to back up the phone.
Bassey: 7DayShop is in Guernsey. Best not to get the two mixed up if you ever visit; they are still fighting the English civil war (no-one told them it had finished) and you would be as popular as a ham sandwich at a bar-mitzvah 😃

Oh yeah! I remember seeing a basketball match between Jersey and Guernsey at the Island games a few years back. Or, at least, it started as basketball. Ended up more like the British Isles round of the Ultimate Fighting Champion!
Anyway, where was I?
I kinda gave up on ebay...looking to order online tho
