No new firmware after R2F?

😮

I must admit my phone is very stable with the R2F firmware upgrade and it doesn't seem SE will be releasing any new firmware after R2F.

So, that's it for the P800?

doubt it i have on going issues with my new p800 (car kit wont connect properly like my nokia does) yes its the ericsson bt one. It only has a headset prof not carkit for bt. multiple call switching problems. Once phone goes out of service then back in bt car kit wont work (unless you turn of ignition wait 1min and turn back on) etc etc. After speaking to the trained amoeba's at se told i should return the handset eventually after screaming (strangly just after the carkit disconnected call and then crashed p[hone with triangle after talking to one of my biggist clients) got through to some bloke who told me a new firmware waqs due before the end of september so keep ur hopes up. by the way I do love the pda side of the p800 but the phone side of it does stink abit

I don't agree to that, but on that note I would just like to mention that the phone version doesn't actually count for much, so when people are referring to their firmware, the right version to mention is in fact the PDA part NOT the phone part. 😊

So to say that: "My firmware version is R2F", is rather pointless, you should be referring to your ORGANISER version, which would then be R2B. 😉

Raven there is a newer organizer version I got it last week and it is R2D02 while the phone version is still R2F

I had "words" with a local Amsterdam SE dealer (a big electronics chain here called RAF) but during the early part of the discussion the "manager" Mark her said that there was a major upgrade coming for the P800 within the next month or so.

Hopefully, once the next version is officially discussed, perhaps any major update will be offered. It would go a long way towards "softening the blow" of a newer, smaller smartphone (with a complete and functioning OS...ahem!)

What's so "incomplete" and "nonfunctioning" about the current version of Symbian/UIQ?

Anyway, I do look forward to UIQ v.2.1 as well (themes and MIDP 2.0 etc.), but I doubt SE will offer an upgrade for the P800 as that might hurt the P810/P900 sales, but there's always hoping...

after using nokia 5110 6210 6310 502 etc the phone side is much poorer on the p800. Most of its problems you can forgive as long as the unit saves you time or makes your job tyhat bit easier but when it starts costing me time cos i have to call people back after it crashed when trying to use the bt car kit i think something needs doing. I must point out that if i am due to be in the car for over an hour or expecting to make a few calls i will swap the sim card back into my 6310i cos that works perfectly with my bloody expensive ericsson car kit.
