Another new user here I'm afraid.. Does anyone know what the o2 MMS and GPRS settings are for both contract and payg are? O2 haven't been much help and the setting they send you form their site don't seem to work.... 😞
o2 MMS settings
Try www.sonyericsson.com/uk and than click Configurators... Than the settings will be send to your phone...
Couple of things I found out about O2 and MMS - firstly, when you get them to enable it on your account it doesn't start up until your next billing date (i.e. they can't turn it on halfway through), and secondly, you can't subscribe to one of their GPRS Web data bundles and have MMS. You can only use GPRS Web on their pay-as-you-use basis (2.60 per MB maybe? Depends on what voice tariff you're using I think). Wasn't a problem for me as I never used GPRS enough to make it cost-effective to prepay for a data bundle.
The people I spoke to at O2 were quite helpful actually (for once) - I guess it just depends on who you get to speak to :-?
Is MMS set up as default when you buy an O2 phone on contract?
I've wasted quite a bit of cash sending MMS on my P800 (orange), to my friends new Nokia 6100 on 02. She doesn't even get anything, not even a little message telling her to go to the website. When I did an MMS delivery report it said:
Your Message was:
Sent 19/08/2003
2:45 pm
Rejected: 19/08/2003
1:50 pm
Does anyone know what this is about. Don't mention the size, because i was careful to keep it below 20kb. So unless 02 have a smaller limit than Vodaphone then it wasn't that.....
(by the way I've sent MMS to my friends 02 7650 and that works all the time.
Thanks in advance.....
Enceladus, I spoke to the O2 ppl again about whether phones need to be set up just to receive, and they said yes - get your friend to call customer services and ask for her handset to be MMS enabled, it won't cost her anything if she decides never to send any, but they told me other people's MMS' won't get through without doing this.
Hope this helps...
Ah, thanks a lot. Much much appreciated.
hey, about that rejected and sent reciept, i get it too, and that it's an hour before it's sent where it says' it's rejected but the mms is always sent even though i get the message saying i was rejected, i'm on t mobile uk

its 2.35 per mb on a high value tariff (O2 250 and above)
about customer service, they dont know sh*t everytime u ask something they have to put u on hold so they can ask someone else.....or they'll give u dodgy info just to get rid of u cause they got there break coming up.

yea but it's good coz i get free mms messages, i just say to them i keep getting the reciept saying it's not sent, i tell them how many times it's happened, and they can take it off the account

I think they class a high value tariff as being O2 100 and above - that's what I've been told before by a couple of different people at O2. I'm guessing it's true, because I'm on O2 100 and only pay 2.35/mb (thanks for digging out the accurate price, Addario 😊 )

I used to have the same opinion, after all of the hassle I had trying to find out if my service provider was ever going to offer the P800. But I've been calling a different customer services number the last couple of times, and they've been much better.
Still, I guess I could just be lucky and getting to talk to a clever customer services person (if such an individual exists 😉 ) each time
cause i work at o2 i dont go to the normal customer services, i manage to get extension numbers to ppl who know what there on about and luckely i got numbers for all networks
btw any1 want a good deal on a new contract in london just pm me 😉
I guess thats one thing that can't really be faulted with Orange. Great customer service. This one woman bent over backwards to help me sort out my GPRS problems on my P800. Lovely girl.
David.
wel, thanks guys. my experiences with o2 have left a lot to be desired (i have 1 contract and 2 prepay sims) and because i'm an "online" customer, i must pay 50ppm for the priviledge of speaking to my provider! They leave a lot to be desired. I mean, surely, they could just enable all their sims for mms and gprs? Lets face it, they did for text...
