6600 camera

Will the camera on the 6600 be as good as the camera on the panasonic GD87 because i think this phone has an excellent camera

I think the camera on the 6600 will be arguably better, because it can take images at a 640x480 resolution, whereas the Panasonic takes much smaller pictures. The 6600 (like the Nokia 3650 and 7650) is better suited for sending images to people who will view them on a computer, whereas the GD87 takes smaller photos best suited to its own display.

I've tried out the GD87 camera in a store, and I agree that its photos look great on the display -- but keep in mind that it has a 65k color display. Something the 6600 will share (but the 3650 lacks). A staff member at the same store described the GD87 photos as "postage stamps" when sent to a computer. 😊

Both are specced to have 2X digital zoom, although quite frankly, that seems like more of a gimmick to me. You could do the same thing with Photoshop after the fact, and probably get better results. And I know of at least two programs that take pics with digital zoom for the 3650 today.

So -- it depends on your needs and how you want to use the pictures. But I'd put my money on the 6600. If you find a comparison of the 3650's camera to the GD87, then I'm guessing the 6600 will be much the same.

thanks for your answer 😃 , that does make a lot of sense. I will probably be using my phone to display pictures most of the time (instead of a PC). 65k colour screens really do make a difference to the quality of a pic compared to 4096 colour screens. But i guess the only real answer to find out if the pics are of good quality is to wait for the phone to come out and ask for a demonstration
