You can use the Nokia Multimedia Converter (Under 9210 section of Nokia.com) which will make WAV sounds smaller for use on 9210, 7650, 3650, etc.

You can also get the Pro Nokia Multimedia Converter from http://forum.nokia.com but you have to register to access.

Mp3 playing is possible, just make sure youve got enough space 😃

shareware:
http://my-symbian.com/7650/applications/ ->just do a search for mp3, will give u 2 programs

freeware:
http://www.geocities.com/zavorine/

Note: encoding mp3 between 24 Kbitsec or 64 Kbitsec does not seem do differ much in quality size, who knows a good low Bitrate codec?

Sorry forgot to mention in previous post (when i was not registred 😃 ) that the freeware program is also an ebookreader...

yo asked if he could use mp3 files as ringtones,and not if he could play mp3 files.Anyway,you can't have mp3 files as ringtones but you can play then on the phone which is pretty pointless with the 3.6 MB of user available memory.

You are right, Im sorry for not reading the question exactly 😮ops: . Indeed it is a bit poinless using mp3 on 3,6 Mb, but when an application becomes available for using mp3 as ringtone, it can be fun though 😊 .

The whole idea of mp3 as ringtone does not sound to difficult to me actually, since developers have already been able to create applications which go deeper into the symbian filesystem. (Not that I'd be able to crate such app, I don't understand a line in the c++ SDK 😊 )

Yes,it would be fun to have mp3 as a ringtone and I think it could be done,but IMO,mp3's are too soft for ringtones.
