I was wondering, is it possible to change the module of software on the phone in that way that the phone could send longer (ordinary) short messages more than 160 characters. Like nokia 3310 (320 chars)
Division on every 160th character of sms is nice, but I don't like it.
Has anyone any idea if the change is possible??
I've searched the forum, but no such question is found, so I'm asking....
10x for help
The SMS lenghts are exactly the same in 7650 as in 3310.
Normal SMS lenght is that 160 characters, but all new nokia phones
can combine 3 SMS messages into one.
And it costs the price of 3 messages to send.
Situation is like this.
I write a message 310 characters long. My Nokia 7650 breaks that one message into two (I can see this in counter in top corner).
On the other side a friend which has nokia 3310 receives 2 smses. Now he replies back to me with 310 chars long message (he sends only one)
On my side again I got the whole message in a 310 chars long piece 😊
Now I would like to know if some modification is possible so that my nokia wouldn't brake the message into pieces or that message char limit could be changed?
Somethings not right. *ALL* phones (including the 7650), if they have support for long SMS messages will actually send them in multiple parts (as multiple messages where each separate message part is also billed individually).
When you receive such a long message, the phones today combines the multiple messages into one and shows them as one (and it does so in cooperation with the phone network without bothering you with the details on how it is done).
So, your friends phone will also actually send a 310 character message in two separate SMS messages (even if it isn't shown that way for the phone user).
If your friend seems a long message that you send as two messages, instead of one, then problem is most likely with his phone (or his operator's/carrier's network), not yours.
I guess this is a problem on our SMS centre then, I'll check something else. Thanks for your help.
