Import vCard into Contacts???

8 replies · 4,487 views · Started 06 August 2002

Okay, if someone sends you a vCard via Infrared the 9290 picks it up immediately and imports it into your Contacts app. I read in the manual that the same happens if you are e-mailed a vCard. I emailed myself a bunch of vCards, and the Communicator treated them as normal attachments that open with FileViewer. The same happened when I loaded them onto my MMC card and tried to open them. I thought there would be some sort of function within the Contacts app to "import vCard" or something . . . but there isn't.
Help!!!

Hello,

try to install the attached programme (don't blame me if your 9290 crashes) and you should be able to open vcf and vcal that you have received via Email.
This functionality is not included in the 92x0 otherwise.

P.S. The programme is from a Finnish guy, unfortunately his site is not up and running anymore. You can check this page http://www.aikon.ch/reviews/sw_review.php3?softwareid=68 and get the translation by clicking the UK flag

Upponalle - you are the best.

I can't BELIEVE how helpful this forum is. I think this might be the fastest-replying, most knowledgable forum I have ever seen. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. 😃

What does this progrm do exactly - sounds like a good one to be written up for the support section.

Here is a short description:

Versit Utils is two tiny applications for vCard and vCalendar entries. If you have received these entries via email, or have them as a file - with Versit Utils you can store them into Contacts or Calendar databases.
(You have this programme btw in your software list 😃 )

Unfortunately the programmer's site doesn't exist anymore 😞

So what , I guess this site is soon a full-time job and there are over 300 programmes available for the 92x0 series. And there is the 7650 and P800... 😉 Difficult to keep track...

The software directory is getting a mjor overhaul hopefully I'll relaunch it tomorrow with competition and more...

Currently inputting data - 200 applications in so far.. 7650 almsot finsihed - long way to go on the 92x0..
