Hard reset ... is it possible ?!?

16 replies · 4,942 views · Started 06 August 2002

Hi to all ...

I have a 7650 that was pre set-upped from an italian telephone company,
So i found some link's in the favourites and the wallpaper operator logo

I'll tryed to reset my phone with the standard procedure (from the telephone properties) but the 3 link's inside and the wallpaper appears again.

No problems to delete the wallpaper ... but how can i remove the 3 link's ??? (I am sure that the command 'delete' from menu 'options' inside the favourites, is missed ...)

Thank's ..... Ciao

try downloading latest "task manager" from psiloc and enable and then use the "format device" feature... 8)

DISCLAIMER: I have not tested this solution, I cannot guarantee you will still be able to use the phone after that... but I am quite sure you will 😊

... i've tryed the task manager ... but the "format phone" command is aviable only in the registered verdion ...

I have tryed to remove the link's usind the file manager ... but i have no permissions (also to change the file attributes) to delete them ...

What are the 3 drives for ??? maybe i have tryed to delete the files from a rom (???) in the drive Z:\

C: is the system drive, read/write
D: seems to be sort of a temporary drive, read/write
Z: is ROM drive, it contains the firmware and system applications, and all needed for a "reset to factory", read only

I didn't try to CLICK on "format" but at least in version 0.98 the option appears. don't know if I have to register it to be able to use that function 😞

[ p.s. sorry for all friends over here, I didn't excape the tentation to answer in italian to italian ppl 8) ]

You can use *#7370# to reset your phone to factory settings...

Hey Jest, how did you find that out?

And... does it reset EVERYTHING? I mean, does it "format" the phone? Or, is there any way to format it (like in 9210 ctrl-shift-f) ?

Hi all,

this is the question at all - my 7650 does not reach a state where any regular input (*#7360# etc.) is possible. Only a Ctrl-Shft-F equivalent may help.

Thanks
Andreas

And please - could someone write in english as far as possible (or both) ? Just for the community. Thank you.

Sure Andy ...

I wrote in italian to explain me better with an italian people ...

My TIM (Italian company) branded N-7650 comes out with three links (plus the standard) in the favourites that i cannot delete ...

I tryed with the *#7370# but it restores all the data as factory default ... so ... i haven't resolved my problem ...

I heared a lot of times the Ctrl-Shft-F, but i haven't bought a 92xx, so i don't know what that command mean.

I think that the only way, for me, is to re-flash the phone with a normal or an updated N-7650 firmware ... and didn't tryed with the "format phone" command from the task manager because disabled with non registered program.

Thanks, Sir !!! :P

Anyway - it seems that we need this Ctrl+Shft+F equivalent...
There MUST be someone around which needs to know about it - because she/he is working 'there around'.

Please 😃

Hi Andy,
I have the same Problem. I can not switch on my phone. I had a real Symbian Crash. There is only one possibility. I have to bring it to a service center and they will load it new - from scratch.
There is no Function like CTRL+SHFT+F like 9110/9210. I think they should make it availible that everybody byself is able to reset the phone.

Hope that it would be more stable soon...

regards, Sandro

It crashes my phone, and when I emailed the company, no replies. I sent in 3 emails in the past 5 days, no response.

Task Manager out of my phonee...

Hi,
just were in the NSC here and got the information: 'service and maintenance equipment is not yet available. All phones will be sent back to Nokia - a few weeks without it would be normal - exchange devices only for their own native customers. Anyway - this is an organizer, not a phone (nice, eh ?)'

Then - I am with Palm since 1997 - the most important thing for me was always the possibility to restore my organizer from the scratch by myself.

So - should we walk into the NSCs every 4 weeks or should we be able to help ourselves ??? Nokia, it's your choice !!!

Nice future :-?

Andy
