same here mine 199kb, how to delete it? master reset?
i removed lots of memory wasted space in the messages bit by going into the outbox of the MMS messages and removing them,
on older firmwares, when you recieve like a message from a data source, like infra red or bluetooth from a PC, the little screen that comes up saying what new message you have (in the dialogue which takes one quarter of the screen), if you get that screen, then like bring up a program and ignore the new message box, then if you go into your messages and go to "beamed" and delete your recieved file, a few times i experienced that since i didn't handle it through the "new message box" screen, that it didn't actually delete the file, that i had to bring up the new message box by sending another file, and that that other file was still in that list (meaning their were two recieved messages,) then i would delete it that way.
Hi
Have the same problem, ~1,5Mb in Messages but not one single Message 😃
I started to checkout my backup files to see if there was any obvious difference, and it was.
In C:\system\mail\ I found several attachment.html files, these were old mail messages.
I also found ~20 *.$$$ files in C:\system\data\.
Deleted all attachment.html files and also the *.$$$ files.
Im now back to ~4,5Mb of free memory in the phone. It was 300 Kb before 😉
Have fun
I looked in my C/sytem/mail folder and there are loads of numbered folders e.g. 00001082_S. Can I delete these?
Plenty of these folders have a file with a similar name in the C:\system\mail\ path.
I never deleted any folder(s), just files I could figure out was lost in space files 😉
Like the attachment.html
😱 STOP!!! you do not delete those mail folders!!!!
My XP, i had try remove and delete mails's folder inside and endup i lost many of my setting inside control pannal! Setting like the SMS and MMS, Area Code, etc. It's somehow crashed my phone!
I have learn thur' this stupid mistake which i have commit.

Many thanks. I'll leave well alone.
Just in case you haven't done it already,
check your Sent Items folders in each of the transports,
if you've been emailing or MMSing out pictures they will all still be sitting in that folder.
I cleared about 3MB when I first thought of it.
to remove these folders, you can reformat your whole c:\ and it'll remove them till your down to a single folder inside the mail folder, but when you recieve a new sms message, it will create a new folder for it.
i'm not quite sure how the folders are sorted though

check the Draft forlder too, I was amazed of what I've found over there!! many unsent SMS, MMS 's and all their attachments!
Just after ~14 days, since last operation delete, of using only SE standard Mail account I ended up with 1 Mb of lost files.
All of them in C:\system\mail\. All INBOX/OUTBOX/DRAFT/SENT in all accounts/SMS/MMS etc were empty via the GUI. But Storage Manager indicated 1 Mb of Messages.
There is something strange going on in this firmware of P800, latest phone firmware according to SE. I have NOT even synchronized the phone since the last operation delete, so it cant be the PC account that generates these lost files. Is there anyone else out there that has the same problem ?
😕
guys ..
I've done some reseacrh regarding MAIL memory, and found that all your SMS/ MMS sent and received and even saved will b saved in your mobile c:\system\mail\0001*** folders. (that's most of us P800 users know)
but what's new is that u'll find there also all the files that u've received through Infrared/Bluetooth/email and u didn't save them in different location!
I had 1.2 MB in the Messages memory, when I checked the Storage Manager, and I've cleaned up more than 700K of some fiels that I recevied through Infrared and Bluetooth. now I have arond 500K in messages (which is normal regarding the number of MMS I have in my inbox and outbox)
there's no easy way to do this cleanup, but I suggest using FileManger from epocware (www.epocware.com) and try to go through each folder in c:\system\mail\0001***
while checking each folder's contents of images, zip files, sound, text, or any other file format u received
or u can use FileMan from Symbianware (www.symbianware.com) and browse these folders through your mobile. but i'll take more time, and much effort to do
good luck 😛
