Landscape version of UIQ.

in the follow up posts, one of them was pretty clever to realise it was just two screen caps put next to each other and they also pointed out the order was wrong too

It's not possible. Landscape mode isn't supported in UIQ.

nothing is impossible..they could make a landscape mode but it'd probably be more work than it's worth..keeping the task bars on the short ends of the screen makes alot more sense with the limited resolution. but a fullscreen UI (like MGS) can go any which way it pleases, and UIQ wouldn't be too difficult to replicate.

Nothing is impossible, but NO, UIQ cannot be made to work in landscape mode. It would have to be completely rewritten by the UIQ people themselves. Applications can of course be made to work in landscape mode, but not the actual UI.

What you are suggesting, is to make an application that emulates the entire UI and works in landscape mode, right? - If not actually impossible, you would still have to use it in portrait mode for text input.

ya, text input would be difficult..and that apps expect 208/240 pixels of width when the bars on the sides would cut it down to 180 or so would be a prob. could always switch back to portrait mode when an 'unsupported' app comes up but progs could be made to detect the landscape ui and use the central 180x320 pixels. and if there's a way to take advantage of the writing recognition engine (collect stroke data landscape and pass it as if it were entered portrait) that would make things easier..otherwise a landscape keyboard is always an alternative.

not a project i'll be taking on at least
