Hi guys,
I am having a very unusual problem which i tried searching a solution for but to no avail cudnt find any....so here goes....
I am running windows XP home edition on my toshiba satellite laptop and i have been trying to make a backup of my phone since the past 2 months but jus havent been able to do so. Evrytime the backup begins n i get the message analysing and then all of a sudden i get a message saying:
"Backup Failed....Unable to analyse the differences between the PC and the phone. Please make sure ur connected properly or try starting backup again"
Now i am able to do evrythin else including synchronising but jus am not able to make backups. For me it is verrrry important that i make backups because where i live i dont have any SE service point so if there is ever any problem and i need to get it flashed i haveta travel 200kms.
Really wud appreicate ay input on this.

Do you have the latest version of PC-Suite (available for download on www.sonyericsson.com)?
Did you try uninstalling/reinstalling the software?

Glad u replied as i was beginning to think that i asked a question no one cud answer....
As to answer ur question....yes i am running the latest version of the PC suite i.e. ver.1.5.1 which i presume is the latest....pardon my ignorance if it isnt.
I have tried uninstalling an reinstalling it n yet i continue to face the same problem.I wud really appreciate if someone cud put me out here....its really getting to me now.

Hmm, the problem you're having is wierd indeed... You say you can synch fine, but yet you're not able to backup/restore... You do have the latest version of PC-suite btw.
You are using the cradle right? It's not possible to backup/restore over Bluetooth/IR.
Do you have any problems with your P800, like strange errors/crashes etc..?
I just did a full Backup - Format C: - Restore myself and everything worked flawlessly...

I think I had this problem on my phone before I had my firmware upgraded. What firmware is your phone running?
Firmware verison shouldn't matter. My P800 is running on the very first official firmware.

Have you tried to shutdown all the miscelleneous applications running in the background before doing the backup? 'Coz I think I remember somebody (long time ago) having problems with the backup and it was caused by an app he had installed. It's a long shot.... still its a shot.

Try to free up as much C: memory as you can..
If you are getting warnings that the phone is full, a backup is more than likely to fail.

Well i really appreciate all ur input here. To answer ur questions....
I am running firmare R2D.
I have tried shutting down all the background running applications but that hasnt really helped.
I have around 3MB free on my C drive so i presume thats gud enuf.
N yes i am trying to backup through the cradle as there isnt any other method to backup uptil now i presume.
Guess i am just stuck. Its a pity that such a wonderful phone n such problems.
