Upgrading the firmware?

6 replies · 2,744 views · Started 11 September 2003

K, I searched the forum and got bogged down by all the jargon, and generally got more confused by various posts and replys. So PLEASE dont slaughter me for not searching the forum cos i DID.

Basically I just want to know:

Shall I upgrade my firmware from V 2.50 (what advantages are there from a newer version)?

Can I upgrade my firmware (I bought my phone from ebay and have no receipt etc)?

How do i upgrade my firmware (will it cost money too)?

I really appreciate your help....

Depends. Some new features are added.. http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14936. I find my 3650 being more stable. Can be I only think it is LOL

You should be able to. I went and got it upgraded at a Nokia certified store.

Go to a Nokia certified store and get them to update it (flash it for you) I had to pay around 13 euro for it. Not sure if you are able to get it for free in other countries / if the subscription plays a part though.

YW 😉

If the phone is under warranty the upgrade should be free.It really helps if you flash your club Nokia membership card(if you have one of course)

thanks for the help 😊

(although i dont have a warranty or Club Nokia Card :'( )

looks like im shi* out of luck...

You're not out of luck, you simply might have to pay for it.

However, given that the phone has not been on sale in any market for 12 months yet, all 3650s are still under warranty, which might help you get the firmware upgrade done, but this might still be chargeable (although a lack of receipt is not in your favour).

The_Dude: search the forums for discussions on US firmware upgrades - I believe your service provider needs to notify Nokia that you require an upgrade based on being affected by a problem, and then you have to send it in to Nokia.
