Just for information, Ive been doing my own benchmarks with the three main methods of encoding video clips for the P800. For your interest, in third place comes the official PacketVideo Recorder the movies it produces are jerkier and with MUCH worse sound than the other solutions.
In second place comes Mpegable X4 Live. Its fiddly to set up properly, over-complex, and the video clips it gives arent any better than the winner, which is.
QuickTime Pro. Add the free 3GP plug-in and youve got what is currently the best system for encoding video for the P800 and other smartphones (can someone try some of my files on a 3650, please?) The standard Export to 3GP works well enough, but I find it helpful to set the data rate a bit higher, to around 80kbps, with the audio quality set to Music. Frames per second can be set to 12 or so, making it easy for the software to sample down from 25fps. The end result is about 800k per minute of good quality video and with very listenable audio as well.
Just my tuppence worth. Comments?
