is there a program that lets me vie the contents of the phone BUT also lets me view a remote location so for instance i could type in a IP addres and it would find it.

The local filesystem can be viewed with, e.g., FExplorer ( see http://www.gosymbian.com/ ).

The built-in browser ("Services"😉 lets you view a remote location. Additional browser programs (like Opera, Doris, NetFront or WebViewer) work, too. They allow access to WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) & web servers.

I think there's also an FTP ((File Transfer Protocol) client (YFTP) that allows you to access FTP file servers.

There is also a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) client that allows you to access remote systems as if you were at the console (the remote end must be running a VNC server).

There is no SMB/CIFS (Server Message Block/Common Internet File System) client, that I know of, though, which would allow access to Windows/SAMBA file servers like what you can do on Windows with Explorer. In case that's what you had in mind.

I also know of no NFS (Network File System) clients, like on UNIX variants or derivatives like Linux.
